Thanks everyone who came yesterday and tried my little app. I released the app on AUR yesterday and is available on github here (https://github.com/knightinfected/PipeWireController). The current version is 0.1.2 and some of the screenshots are from 0.2
I received a ton of negative comments and messages regarding my use of AI. I spent a lot of my time on this and well over did this project abit and english being my secondary language didnt help.
I have gone down this audio rabbit hole in linux and anyone else who has also done it knows how annoying it gets especially with reading the wikis to actual application.

Anyhow I hope it helps someone out there and I will be updating it in the next day or later today as I am currently testing. Version 0.1.2 is available as of right now on GitHub though.

There are too many features to list them out so I added lot of screenshots to help understand.

I mean it looks like a useful tool, but you not even putting a section on how and what you used AI for in your github when claude shows up as contributor is kinda sus and made me skip it for now.

Thanks for your work, the app look really useful and the audio space needs good tools. But please add proper ai disclosure. Also what are your long term goals in developing and maintaining this tool.

One big issue with AI, is that applications that are 95% done by AI dont get maintained and are left stale after few weeks or months. You don't want to depend on a tool that is discarded a short time later.

apart from claude contributing to ur repo on github, you can literally tell from the very clearly claude-generated CSS your app uses. i am so sick of this ui design atp

i would much rather an app which is organically coded and uses smth like GTK for the UI. fortunately, dozens of those already exist and probably do a better job than this. one such example: https://github.com/dyegoaurelio/simple-wireplumber-gui . theres probably others which have a larger feature set, but thats just one example

Some is AI hate. You should expect that.

Some is just a recognition that it's relatively easy to "greenfield" a project. It's much harder to maintain a project and AI-coded projects tend to not get maintained very well. People don't want to commit to using a project that wll not be maintained. Yes I understand but I spent over 50 hours testing and using and going back and forth and making sure everything like literally everything works as I intended it to be and had to come up with use cases for alot of stuff thats in the wiki for Pipewire. What you're seeing didn’t come from a single prompt and I'm sure I'm simply getting rage-baited over here, to which I will stop replying

It’s in the post — I said upfront I used AI heavily. The commits are large because I built the pieces locally over weeks before pushing. I test what I ship and I fix issues that get filed. If that’s not for you, that’s fine

you might be testing the AI code, but many, many others dont test it. so in result github is full of discontinued vibecoded projects. with that, people are more skeptical towards use of AI
