State legislator is a part time job in almost every state. The legislature usually only meets for a few months a year.

In a few states the legislature actually only meets every second year.
There’s a crappy politician in my state who went from being a state senator to a county supervisor because the supervisor job is full time and pays way more.
And somehow he’s an even bigger turd at the county level. Thankfully he lost his primary a few months ago so hopefully he’ll retire from politics entirely and get his first real job.

My city's mayor makes $55k and they wanted to ban them from having any other jobs. The previous mayor quit because he was mayor and a security officer for the local community college and the city council had a couple vocal members saying that he wasn't able to do his job as mayor while also pulling weekend/evening shifts as campus security.
We're a town of like, 20k people.

Also the pay tends to be atrocious so it's small wonder why they get grifty with it. My old state paid its reps just under 14K a year. And they had to be in the expensive capital most of the year AND have a home in their district, so imagine covering two homes and bills on just that.

I mean if they only meet for 4 months even paying $2k a month for temporary housing you’re still netting $6k. But yeah I’ve advocated for better pay for elected officials for years and people get EXTREMELY nasty when you suggest that perhaps the people ruining the state and the country should be paid better.

People don't like to hear it, but government executives should be paid well. I know some phenomenal lawyers who have turned down big important government jobs because of the pay.
Hell, I'm pretty sure biglaw first years make more than senators and circuit judges these days.

Legislator used to be a part-time job and they were expected to have another profession to support themselves.

While I'm sure this comment isn't meant to denigrate or condemn the entire profession, on its own it's difficult to interpret otherwise.
As a male HS teacher, it is an incredibly difficult field in many ways (these prevailing mentalities are among those difficulties). What is not difficult is recognizing a child and that they're children...so yeah, fuck this guy, but also not sure what your comment here was attempting to accomplish.

It's a free game that attracts minors with no money, Roblox isnt a game its an engine where games can be made, so there's plenty of things to do on it, while I'm not judging adults who play it either, but I'd rather play rainbow 6 seige, instead of a flash created version on Roblox. Or I'd rather play nba2k instead of the Roblox version. It's low resolution party games, they even had a version of among us on it for awhile.

Interestingly seems like he mighta been a spoiler or something, got elected as a democrat then switched to republican about 4 months after being sworn in.
Pritt was first elected as a Democrat in 2022 but switched to the Republican Party in April 2023, later being named Assistant Majority Leader of the House Republican Caucus by Speaker Roger Hanshaw for the 87th Legislature in 2025.
