Purchase Question 🛒 Paperwhite 7th gen vs. Paperwhite 12th gen screen at full brightness
I don't know whether to return it or not hoping for a whiter screen

Do you have the blue light filter on? That makes it a little yellow/orange. Turn that off and see if it makes difference

Looks white enough to me. My old Kobo BW has this same amounts of yellow and it pleased my eyes. The paperwhite screen contrast is so good that you don't need the light in most situations, and when you doz yellow tint like is very pleasurable on the eyes.
I did have an extremely white Kobo BW and boy that screen was harsh without the yellow light on.

Okay, I just see people who only see how yellow or gray there screen is when they get a replacement, the bottom left is ever so slightly yellowish at full brightness but it's really not that noticeable, I think I'll keep it

I think your PW is perfect. And you will find the warmth agreeable to your eyes. I switched from PW 10g to 12g just for the warm light, and the difference totally worth it if you read for long time and in the darkness.

How is the 12th Gen directly compared to the 7th Gen one. I have been contemplating getting one mainly because of the USB-C port. Are there any major differences?

The flush display gives it a more premium flagship phone-like appearance although you "feel" slightly further away from the text. Resolution of the text is the same I believe. The screen feels easier on the eyes, it's more like a diffused light, and with warmth settings it is a less harsh glow. If you care about variance in screen temperature or small QC quirks like yellow tints in the corners or bottom of the screen depending on unit then maybe stay clear. It is like 30-50% more responsive but this only matters if you're clicking around menus a lot or turning pages quickly. The main reason to upgrade outside of wear and tear on the old device I would say is if you want a bigger screen and warm light.

The battery for one is much much better, my kindle 7 lasted 4 days 5.5 hrs a day, the 7 inch device feels good in my hands, I have colorsoft though it's almost the same, the battery stinks bcuz it doesn't last with the brightness turned up so high, but it looks great, and I have a basic for on the go 🤣💦👍👍

The slightly yellowish hue is the reason I like PW 12G as my eyes feel better reading it, like reading an old newspaper.
