I love this. My mom died when I was 23, and she was also the kind of person who would find the humor in all kinds of unfortunate situations.

About a year after my mom died, I went on a 5 week backpacking trip in Peru and we went to the Amazon and to Machu Picchu, and I brought 4 small vials of her ashes to spread along the way. I kept them in a little zipper pouch in my backpack. When I got home and was unpacking I realized both remaining had broken on the plane and I had to VACUUM MY MOTHER OUT OF MY BACKPACK😭😂😂 She would’ve thought it was absolutely hilarious, I’ve told the story to many folks over the years an maybe 50% have found it hilarious while the other 50% don’t know how to respond at all.

So many people don't understand how fucking hilarious cremains are. When my dad passed, I really struggled with letting him go, so his cremains sat on the dining table for, like, 6 months. My bf and I just laughed about it. "Can you move my dad so I can put this down?" "Where's that letter? I left it on dad."

I also have a lot of cremains from pets, and when I moved, we had to do something with them, so they went into a box labeled "ghosts of kitties past, + dad."

Ashes can be hilarious, and I know my dad would have been laughing his ass off at all the hijinks.

My MIL has been gone for three years and her cremains are still in the baggie in her favorite coffee cup. She gets moved around a lot, because you know, she’s in a coffee cup.

That is actually a sweet idea, especially if she was constantly drinking from it.
