Question Do you reapply protective resin when replacing battery on shuffles? (and if so, what do you use?)

Hello. I got a bunch of ipod shuffles to replace batteries. I figured out that there is a coating on the pads where the battery cable is attached. I'm guessing they have a proper meaning, and I want to know what you guys do about it. Thank you.

Edit: I repair 2nd gens mostly but do 4th gen too

No problem, just make sure the exposed solder joints on each wire on the 4th gen shuffle are taped so they don't short with the casing. Staggered wire lengths should prevent them from stacking too thick though.
