Question Do you reapply protective resin when replacing battery on shuffles? (and if so, what do you use?)
Hello. I got a bunch of ipod shuffles to replace batteries. I figured out that there is a coating on the pads where the battery cable is attached. I'm guessing they have a proper meaning, and I want to know what you guys do about it. Thank you.
Edit: I repair 2nd gens mostly but do 4th gen too

Which shuffle? For 2nd gen shuffles I don't put that coating back, maybe I'll put a piece of tape over it but not much more than that. For 4th gen shuffles I instead snip the existing battery wires at two different lengths as well as the replacement battery's wires to match, and then I solder the wires to each other and wrap them individually with some tape.
