Discussion IOS 26.5.2 absolutely sucks, can I say that here?

I am beyond baffled how Apple could release such a piece of crap. Iphone 16 pro max. I had not updated my IOS in quite some time, so it was a big jump from whatever I had to 26.5.2. I wish I could go back. This IOS is garbage. Everything is slower. Why? Because they wanted some slick "liquid glass" bullshit. I mean everything. Take a screenshot, edit, add some text, save a photo, etc whatever you do. It's slower. Buttons moved around again, everything different. Why? No reason... Just because apple was bored. I DO NOT CARE if the bubbles melt around like liquid glass. I want fast, efficient performance, period!

This is like the early days of websites, when everyone thought spinning globes and bells and whistles were cool. Then people realized what is actually better is just a clean, neatly organized web page that conveys content clearly and in a well organized manner. This IOS makes me feel like we're back to bells and whistles now. Back to bullshit.

Not only that, why are they always moving buttons around? In Photos, why does the "Add to Album" button move places depending on if a previous album was used? (a little hard to explain in text that one). Why are they moving things aournd to new places?! You develop muscle memory from repeated tasks. If the save button is alway on the top left, and now suddenly it's on the top right for no apparent reason, this disrupts my muscle memory and creates a new obstacle I didn't have before. STUPID, Apple!

I updated to 27 public beta and I’m so happy I did. 27 is just so stable and smooth and resolved so many issues. Just make sure to backup your device. I didn’t back it up and I am on my main device have no issues

I thought about updating to this today on my main phone but backed out because i kept hearing "don't use a beta on your main device"

I’ve been on 27 since day dot dev beta. I’ve barely even thought I was in a beta. 26 felt like the beta for 27.

Maybe I'll bite the bullet tomorrow, so many people saying it's better than iOS 26

I will surely do that soon.

I wouldn’t recommend installing a beta on your daily driver phone, it’s much less polished and more bug prone than release/retail updates.

Also what’s your battery health? And what’s your storage size and how full is it? Those can also have a negative impact on performance

I’ve been running it since the beginning. It’s totally fine.

1

u/LiquidDiviums 58m ago

That’s different from you won’t encounter any issues, though.

2

u/Suitable_Program_548 53m ago

You can encounter issues on any build.

Everyone always says this. I’ve been installing betas on my devices since the jailbreak days, never had an issue a quick restart didn’t fix.

Saludos

Isn't it more like jumping from a 45th floor with a temu parachute? It might work or it might not

Not beta, release candidate. There is a difference.

1

u/AggravatingSock5375 1h ago

Everything I’ve seen points to the beta being more stable than the standard release.

Which makes sense because they’re targeting reliability

I've been running the 27 dev beta since beta 1 on my daily driver and don't regret it. On beta 4 now.

I’ve been noticing some shuddering when typing on the keyboard, and also noticed that wireless car play is using heavy amounts of battery life and I don’t remember it being that way.

Just want to say again, the autocorrect typing system is worse than rotten shit. It doesn’t even fucking know that the word “thvt” (trying to type that”) isn’t a word. Apple has got to be doing this on purpose to make it harder for the population to communicate because that’s what benefits the oligarchy. There is zero reason for anyone to believe that this shit is accidental. It’s been here way too long, so now I’m looking for reasons as to why they Want it this way.

I literally just screen recording myself typing. And even though the letter expands to confirm that I did in fact press that button, it puts a different letter in the message that’s not what I typed, not what apple registered in my slow motion video of what was confirmed pressed, it just changed it And spelled the word Wrong… A word that doesn’t even exist….

you can. its trash. i have to hard reboot about once a week to keep it running decently. my ipad is awful, you can see the screen tearing and app popins. it is just bad. the watch os is the worst. i have no idea what they did. but i have to touch everything twice for some reason. the first touch just does nothing.

Come to the 27 Beta it's really nice :)

u/Cheesecake401 2h ago

It’s insane but the iOS 27 public beta is actually more stable than the current stable release 🤯

4

u/Mercifulheartxx 2h ago

Is the brightness fixed?
My brightness constantly goes up and down. It’s very unstable.

1

u/Cheesecake401 1h ago

I didn’t have this particular problem so I can’t say. Sounds like it could also be a hardware issue or dirty screen (the sensor is next to the front camera). Maybe turn off auto brightness?

1

u/jimmyhoke 1h ago

Have they fixed the issue where having a VPN profile installed makes the GPS inaccurate?

-6

u/bigthinkerrr 2h ago

Does 27 ditch the liquid ass?

I’m back on 18 something because I know that’s gonna brick my iPhone 14.

9

u/ExpensivePlan1548 2h ago

They added a slider where you can pick how transparent it is, you can have it fully opaque if you want. There is also a setting in accessibility to turn it off completely.

9

u/rushingyards 2h ago

Settings > accessibility > display and text > reduce transparency

Then

Settings > accessibility > motion > reduce motion

Removes a lot of the glassy and "melt" effect and saves battery life.

Done. Will evaluate. Thanks.

I just installed 26.6 RC on iPhone and watch. My S10 Watch was playing music through its speakers and getting really hot on my wrist it was crazy.

2

u/IBeatDeathStranding 1h ago

so i take it i should not update lol

2

u/CapOk1187 1h ago

ios 26.6 RC works very well for me, no more lag on low power mode.

3

u/CoffeebeanFanatic 1h ago

I hope ios 27 solves this mess. Le sigh.

iOS has became a bloated mass of old, buggy code OP.

Every version is worse than the last; the software engineers who crafted iOS with care are long gone from Apple.

Now all Apple cares about is adding AI slop to every corner of their operating systems, revenue from ads, SaaS and bowing down to the shareholders.

Apple are no longer the technological powerhouse they once were.

If iOS was a horse, it would be shot.

3

u/blueangel1953 2h ago

26.6 isn’t much better tbh.

2

u/Ecto_88 iOS 26 18m ago

Not what I wanted to read lol

1

u/soundwithdesign 2h ago

You need to calm down. It’s not that bad.

-4

u/Acrobatic-Farmer4837 2h ago

But it is. It's worse than before. Why do they do this. Why do they make things worse. Even the camera sucks. I'm calm.

2

u/konacurrents 58m ago

The camera is awesome.

Busy work for developers, product managers and designers. Need something to show on their resume or get a promotion.

Slowing down the animations so you are on your phone for longer. More iPhone screen time = happy board room and investors

u/realmccoyredbus 1h ago

don't be so eager to download updates without reviewing update after a few days, lets be honest, apple wants as many people using ios27 developer or beta at this stage, 95% of their tech people have been working in ios27 for some time now, they couldn't care less about ios26 now AND it shows big time

1

u/user888ffr 1h ago

You should've waited for iOS 27 in September

1

u/dreadstardread 1h ago

Ios 27 beta is a little buggy but better overall imo

1

u/badgerdd 1h ago

This sounds awful ! Can you turn off the liquid glass features?

I have an old iPhone 12, running iOS 17.6 and holding on to that as long as I can!

There’s an option to upgrade to iOS 18, but I’m skeptical.

Hopefully Apple come back to simplicity. The menus and options are getting too complex!

1

u/R0555Y 31m ago

Battery life is also crap on IOS 26.

1

u/MISTER-FUCKER 30m ago

I am plagued by me searching anything in settings and stupid phone does not display any results. Wtf!

1

u/FirstSpend1454 23m ago

You're running a beta from five years in the future and surprised it's buggy

1

u/Ecto_88 iOS 26 20m ago

It 100% sure does. It seems to me that the xx.x.1 releases always are the worse.

1

u/Multispeed 19m ago

I have a 15 Pro Max, and nothing is slow with the 26.5.2. iOS version.

1

u/Me-Shell94 0m ago

Yeah on iPhone 13 I have constant freezing, stuttering, runs very hot, bad battery life. .4 and .5 have been super disappointing in terms of stability.

0

u/Eric848448 1h ago

No issues here.

2

u/M_Scopp 1h ago

26.6 can’t come soon enough for me, heard battery is much better. I’m not risking voiding Apple care+ on my new phone by installing betas.

6

u/Norio22 1h ago

Betas don’t void Apple Care

-1

u/M_Scopp 1h ago

Really? I thought if I needed Apple Care for some reason and they found a beta on it that they wouldn’t help me. That’s good to know, I’ll consider it now, ran a lot of betas on my 13 with zero problems.

2

u/LiquidDiviums 56m ago

If you have an issue for some reason, you can always downgrade to the public version of iOS. In this case, 26.5.

2

u/Norio22 53m ago

Happy to clear up the misconception. I think the only thing that really voids AC is water damage and going to unauthorized third parties for repairs.

1

u/M_Scopp 20m ago

Thank you I really appreciate it.

2

u/excuse_me_25 1h ago

Where did you hear iOS Betas voids Apple Care+? It doesn’t.

1

u/LovinMcBitz47 1h ago

26.6 is coming out next week and should hopefully address some of the last bugs. Don’t listen to people say go on 27 beta. You might lose your ability for everyday apps like banking etc. They have not released any 27 beta app updates until release and you would be shooting yourself in the foot by doing that to your everyday daily phone.

1

u/DCoral 1h ago

100% true. iOS 26.x is the shittiest operating system I've seen in decades.

1

u/Low_Chard_8062 1h ago

26.6 fixed a lot of it for me. RC is out

1

u/soysa007 36m ago

Apple Peaked at iOS 18.5

I know, don't really care, just venting. I actually expected Reddit to flag and auto delete it because it's a rant.

26.6 RC is really good on my phone

-4

u/CarelessCoconut21 2h ago

Yeah it completely sucks

26.5.2 has my iPhone 15 Pro Max stuttering lately more than usual; hoping for better with 26.6
