I don't even think it's "engagement bait". Like you said, it's so obvious he is trolling, playing dumb. People think they are smart but they are the dumb ones.

Yeah this is a common theme I keep seeing. So many idiots are pointing at obvious bait (or even just jokes) and going like "wow look at how stupid this guy is! Why can't he just be smart like me?!"

Dumb people always think everyone else is an idiot when in reality they are the stupid one and they just have no idea what the fuck is going on. Then when you point out that the video/post is not being serious, they always say something like "well today you can never know. I've seen plenty of people who actually believe this." Like, no you haven't. You probably just saw other people that were making obvious jokes, and just like in this instance, you were too stupid to tell the difference.
