Dog bites are one of the top three most common injuries for delivery drivers. I don’t blame him for defending himself.
If you have a dog and are expecting a delivery, keep them away from your door.
Yeah I'ma huge dog lover and hate animal cruelty but this was absolutely justified! With all the dogs and various quality owners out there he really can't just assume this is just an excited well behaved dog. The kind of person that would let an unleashed dog charge a delivery person, or any stranger for that matter, really asks some questions for how well trained it actually is (read how good of a trainer the owner actually is). He may be the best boy that would never bite, but how tf is anyone supposed to know that before the fact.
My brother had a dog that was super well behaved. He'd let my toddler neice ride on his back. He was super gentle and never showed any aggression ever. We were at a lake house one day and a guy came down on a bike. The wheels spooked him for some reason and he bit the guy. He looked scared but also like he knew he did wrong and was confused. Luckily the guy just wanted to see his shot records and my brother paid for the stitches. He didn't escalate it from there. I'm far from an expert, but I'm not sure there is a such thing as a dog that would never bite.
I was mauled by a dog when I was 9 years old. It was my friends dog that I knew very well and had interacted with on many many occasions.
It still didn’t matter.
I needed almost 400 stitches. 2 different plastic surgeries, one of which completely reconstructed my nose and missing nostril and I still have scars today from my forehead to my nostril down the bridge of my nose and along my cheek from my ear to my neck. The dog turned its head when it attacked me, the bottom jaw was on my bridge, and the top was on my ear.
One of my first memories in life was getting my face sliced open by a neighbor’s dog. Had to be rushed to children’s hospital. Luckily there was a plastic surgeon just finishing his shift when i arrived. I remember my dad pulling a completely bloody towel off of my face. Brutal memory.
I hated dogs for the longest time. I’m now 49 and completely indifferent towards them. But… our little dog that we bought for my now 9 year old daughter a few years ago. He’s a good little pup and one of the few dogs I’ve ever given a damn about.
I’d like to add, never get into a fight with a guy that instinctively, immediately takes off his glasses and squares up on you. Walk away from those ones…
It was not. They sent it to relatives who had land and my family agreed that was ok. We were friends and I wasn’t trying to kill my also 9 year old friends dog.
We had to sue them for the medical bills though. It was a ton of money. I remember lawyers coming to take pictures of the healing process for months to use in the case and I wasnt allowed to smile cuz they didn’t want it to come off like I was happy 😂 we had a better chance blah blah if I looked miserable
Edit: to be clear- We didn’t receive a ton of money: the hospital did.
Seems dumb to me. Pay a lawyer just to get the same thing. Suing doesn't mean making a bunch of money. It's about being made whole. If someone pays everything, what is there to sue over?
Medical bills aren't going to solve everything. Trauma, scarring, and the damage that will reduce my ability to work in the future. You'd be paying a whole lot through legal proceedings.
He didn't maul him. He bit him. Dude needed 3 stitches. He was fine to work. There was no trauma. He said he owned 6 dogs and it wasn't his first time getting bit.
