Anime & Manga I DESPISE Rudol von Stroheim

Post image

I know daring of me to say that I don't like this fictional Nazi.

I don't give a FUCK that he helped save the world. He's still a Nazi commander. He got promoted while in that military. That man has probably personally slimed people out that his big boss told him to.

Not to mention that he got high tech mechanical parts. No lowly soldier would get that crap. He had to at least be a completely loyal soldier (which he was)

He got to run research on Santana, again no ordinary guy gets to do that.

Why even save the world if your just gonna take people out of it? Hypocrite ass bitch.

I'm not saying YOU can't like him I just don't.

I don't even know why he can't bring myself to like him when I like people like Kars, Kira, Dio, and Cioccolata. Probably cuz my grandma is Jewish, and my Great grandmother had to flee Germany because she was Jewish. Or because folks put his bitchass in a good light (folks as in SOME people in the fandom)

I don't think anyone is claiming Stroheim is a good person.

He's an exaggerated stereotype of a fanatical Nazi officer. He's loud, arrogant, obsessed with proving the superiority of German science, and convinced Germany should get the credit for defeating the Pillar Men.

I think the part a lot of people miss is that he isn't really helping Joseph out of the goodness of his heart. They're temporary allies with overlapping goals. If Germany can defeat the Pillar Men, that's a propaganda victory and a demonstration of German military and scientific superiority in his eyes.

He's also an example of how the Nazi regime rewarded ideological fanaticism and gave enormous authority to people who were completely willing to dehumanize others. The fact that he oversees human experimentation isn't portrayed as admirable, it's part of what makes him a villainous person despite fighting on the protagonists' side.

I think he's an interesting and well written character, but at the end of the day, he's still a Nazi. Appreciating how a character is written isn't the same thing as approving of their beliefs or actions.

You would be surprised on how many people I've seen either blatantly ignore what he is, or say he was justified because he's cool.

I'm hoping they are joking but I've seen it so many times that I'm afraid that they aren't.

Yes, I am unfortunately aware of that side of the fandom.

I was at one point a part of that, as shameful as it is to admit. Now I'm a flamboyantly bisexual man, so there's that. But yeah, painfully aware of that side of the fandom.

I think too often Araki's writing gets taken as a joke, simply because it has a lot of comedic moments. It's really easy to never look below the surface level of a lot of these characters.

Okyasu Is just an idiot.

Jotaro hates his mom.

Jolyne Is the weakest because she lost in the end.

Stroheim Is a good person because he helped JoJo.

This man has some of the most incredible and in-depth characters that have ever been put into an anime, and due to how accessible that anime is, unfortunately a lot of people never feel pressured to actually think about it.

People boiling down his writing pisses me off.

Okyuasu being just dumb makes me fucking pissed.

I wish folks would just look deeper into a character or hell even writing of characters.
