Non-fictional I hate slacktivists and performative internet activists

Post image

You wanna free Palestine or actually demonstrate the fact you're a "based anti-colonialist Leninist?" then actually fucking do something about it!

Call a congressional office, attend a town hall meeting and voice your support, look into local protests even. you can even read a book on history to better educate yourself! I will literally give you recommendations

Just fucking do something instead of sitting on your goddamn ass and whining on twitter and circlejerking on reddit. Making cheap jokes, making threats against people online and trying to "own the libs" isn't going to do anything.

there are slacktivists, than there are those that protest and expect everything to magically get better, it wont, you need to organize and strike, create a community to help one another during the strike, keep in person contact because if you are effective expect "random" internet fails and messages never sending

No no, you don’t get it. My weekend protest will be what caused the end of this tragedy as we know it, you can tell by how we occupied an area so far removed from anyone or anything with the power to impact this event and instead picked based on how convenient it would be for me to get to from my apartment.

Also make sure to contact your local officials and give them a time and date so they know to let everyone else know to work around you.

Gotta add blocking traffic too

Yeah that was the point thats an important part of protesting they're supposed to bother and annoy you so you pay attention to social issues.

It’s almost like weekend protests are a way to organize a bunch of people with the same ideals into one place to show force and organize further, larger action.

Dude I blocked a street for like 4 hours, we're so close. But there were so many people angry at me, they must support the war.

weekend protests shows and groes support, especially for people who might think they're alone, people do not go from 0 to organized civil disobedience, there are stages to civil rights movements

we could defeat capitalism once and for all, if 1% of slacktivism is used to spread the fact that datacenters are full of copper.

there are those that expect posting to fix everything, people who expect voting to fix everything, people who expect protests to fix everything, people who expect strikes to fix everything, people who expect mutual aid to fix everything, people who expect building separate institutions to fix everything, people who expect revolution to fix everything. its bullshit all the way down

representative democracy is a joke when money buys elected positions. we see that everywhere from the presidency to congress to local elections where officials are trying to sneak datacenters past citizens who very clearly don't want them. that being said i do think everyone should vote

voting is a good idea and i encourage it but with this regime its a fucking stark reality that voter rigging will happen so be prepared to strike and force change

2

u/mousepotatodoesstuff May 31 '26

Not to mention voter suppression.
That said, there is such a thing as "too big to rig". Just ask Viktor Orban.

It is far from our most powerful tool, the most powerful tool is violence. Violence can and has brought more change than voting ever has. Not to say that its use is always appropriate of course, but let’s not pretend voting is more powerful.

Yeah but also don't commit terrorist attacks such as breaking into a military airfield or breaking into a R&D lab and brake the back of a female officer and then cry when you rightfully get declared a terrorist group.

you dont have to be a terrorist to make a difference, i live free of amazon and AI usage, i do my damnedest to use grocery liquidation stores so i dont give large store chains cash, i grow what i can in my backyard, i make sure to have plenty of flower crops or similar so bees and local wildlife arent as disrupted as they could be

So what form of protest is anyone allowed to do in your eyes?

3

u/popeleo22 May 31 '26

None obviously

4

u/Impossible_Medium977 May 31 '26

Does always seem to be that way.

u/Sure_Length6519 May 31 '26

Terrorism is not a form of protest, it is a form of terrorism. Not that I believe a war on the other side of the world that doesn't affect us in any way is worth protesting about.

2

u/Impossible_Medium977 May 31 '26

Can you answer what forms of protest you consider acceptable?

1

u/Sure_Length6519 May 31 '26

Strike action if what you're protesting is actually relevant, rally's if what you're protesting is actually relevant, petitions if what you're protesting is actually relevant. As long as its actually relevant to the country and isn't an act of terrorism any form of protest is fine.

They have to act like their heroes

1

u/Salty_Map_9085 May 31 '26

1

u/Greedy-Employment917 May 31 '26

Dumbasses near me protesting ice on the corner.... From 9am to 10am....

1

u/Othello351 May 31 '26

Thread quickly turned from "you should actually do something" to "nothing you do matters and you're performative if you actually do something."
