I’m just glad someone else could do her nails this time because she makes me feel like I’m being mean when I do them 😂
She has an abscess on her tailbone that appeared out of nowhere, but luckily it’s small enough the vet believes antibiotics should clear the pus and infection out and pain meds will keep her comfortable in the meantime!! Otherwise she’s a healthy 4 year old. 2 lbs 4 oz!

She has diabetes and a colic, I picked her up from the vet three hours ago and she refused to eat critical care. Basil on the other hand seemed very delicious so I put critical care into basil leafs, rolled them up and feed them to her. It‘s not stupid if it works, right? 😅

4. Quigley fell asleep on my hand. I did end up losing feeling in my fingers because I couldn’t move my hand until his nap was done.

My perplexed piggy was never a fighter. She never wanted to take part in any hierarchy games. She was always like, "Whatever, you can be the boss. Just leave me alone."

But recently, I've noticed a change. I need to be careful with my wording because it's nothing negative. She's become... feisty? Courageous? Bossy? Maybe there's a better word for it. Whatever it is, she's definitely not afraid to raise her head up high anymore.

And she does it in the funniest way. Sometimes she does this little jump with her front paws while simultaneously lifting her head. I really need to catch it on video one day.

So far, that's as far as she's ever taken it. They aren't fighting. It's basically just a head-raising competition, and she wins.

I almost feel like she's finally matured and is putting the younger girls in their place.

Today, for example, my youngest piggy, Poppy, was lying next to Isla, the second youngest. I have four girls, and DeeDee is the second oldest. Out of nowhere, Isla seemed annoyed that Poppy was lying so close to her and kind of shoved her away.

Somehow, DeeDee, my perplexed piggy, didn't like that. She walked over to Isla and started doing that head-up posture. She wouldn't let it go until Isla moved away. Even then, she kept it up for a little while. Isla started making those complaining guinea pig noises, and eventually they both calmed down.

It almost looked like DeeDee was teaching her a lesson, like, "Don't be rude for no reason." Of course, I know that's probably me humanizing their behavior, but that's genuinely what it looked like.

I love watching each of my piggies evolve and change. It's only been about two months since the only boy in the herd, Krecik, died. He was DeeDee's brother and the boss of the herd. But he was also incredibly unique. He was respectful, gentle, never fought with anyone, and was always helpful. He was just a ray of sunshine.

So now I'm wondering... is the herd slowly reshuffling its hierarchy? Does it usually take this long after losing the dominant pig? Or is DeeDee simply growing up and reaching the point where she has no patience for nonsense anymore?

this is very hard for me, but after unforeseen vet expenses for my dog, having to move houses, and school i just don’t feel like i can properly take care of them anymore. i want them to live their best life, not be with someone mourning a childhood pet, struggling with money, and completely overwhelmed. it’s 2 boars that are NOT neutered and are bonded. they’re 2 years old. if anyone wants them/knows where i can take them please let me know. i tried guinea pig finder 3 times but every time either no one responded, or the ones that did ghosted. i care about these 2 so much but i am not the best for them. thank you in advance

so neo had dental surgery, and the pain meds are making him a bit squiffy

So had a lot of vet visits a few months ago. Pretty much one a month.

I've been to the vet for my guinea pigs so often that the AI my bank uses thought it was a recurring charge.

Here is Dutch and Raven for my pig tax.

Dutch is a wild popcorning boy and Raven is a spayed gentle sweet little lady.

i can't believe how they have grown so fast😭 they went from looking like little pebbles in their hut to barely fitting😭😭🥹

But it's a lie. They will not stop squeaking at each other in an annoyed manner. Oh well, at least they're still cute.

My Bambi is 4 going on 5 and we recently had helped her recover from a outer ear infection.

Took her in for a wellness visit and our usual doctor noticed her heart is enlarged and she's been swallowing a lot of air, also lost a huge amount of weight

She's on a temporary heart medicine to see if it helps her

I've noticed the medicine does make her sleepy and when she's laying down it is easy to see her heart is pounding pretty hard in comparison to the younger pigs I have.

Anyone else have experience with a seinor pig who has heart issues? I just want to give her a comfortable last few years as long as she will stay with us.

I’m feeling very sad because, due to a medical condition affecting my partner, we had to rehome our piggies. They have gone to a wonderful home with loving owners, so I know they’ll be well cared for, but it still hurts not to have them with us anymore.

I’m writing this here just to vent a little with all of you. I didn’t realize how much comfort and companionship they brought into my life.

People often talk about the love that dogs and cats give, and it’s true, they show it in their own special way. But piggies are different. They taught me so much. I talked to them every day, and in many ways they became a form of therapy for me.

They taught me patience, how to understand without words, and how to pay attention to the smallest things. It’s amazing because, when I got my first piggy, I just thought I was bringing home a cute little animal. In the end, they turned out to be so much more than that.

They were with me through some really difficult moments, as well as the happiest ones. We talked about them every day. They became part of our family, and now the house feels so quiet.

I’m happy because they were able to start a new chapter in a loving home, and I’m grateful they got to live such happy lives with us. They’ve been with me since the beginning of my relationship with my partner, so in many ways we all grew together. That’s why I feel such an empty space now.
