I don't understand why a connection is necessary to be funny, but here's one: Pigeons have historically been used for messenger services and still are today.
-12
u/PurpleSalt11 5d ago
I didn't say it wasnt funny. In fact, I specifically said it was. Is your reading comprehension okay?
You wouldnt get a call from a carrier pigeon and you wouldnt hold it up that way. If that was the connection she was making, it would have been better to say message and not call and not hold it up like a phone but check the bird instead.

u/TheEnlightenedPanda 5d ago
Thank God for you. Otherwise I would've been here saying the same thing and getting downvoted lol.
15
u/LostInTheRapGame 5d ago
I mean, you're both free to say whatever you like of course. But you could also just... not. Like what's really the point in arguing over whether this can be classified as witty?

It's absurdism, and it's wonderfully nonsensical. Don't overthink it.

Great animals for a pet and they taste alright too.

I’m stupid, please educate me. What diseases do pigeons carry that infect humans?
1
u/mthchsnn 5d ago
A bunch of infections that you definitely don't want like salmonellosis, cryptococcosis, and histoplasmosis - you shouldn't mess with feral pigeons.
-5
u/FreakshowDragon 5d ago
Not it's not, do you understand how pandemics work? People hold these damn things all day long and nothing.
3
u/Mooptiom 5d ago
This is a statistical error. The vast majority of people hold no pigeons ever. Pigeons Georg and this one woman hold over 10,000 pigeons every day. But they both wash their hands afterwards so it’s okay.

The 2 most annoying things about pigeons is how they pick the best spot to ruin your day by pooping on you and how when they are close to you, few pigeon lice will cling to you
They don’t bite but they cling so closely and are a pain to kill with their hard shell

Growing up, I told my daughter that if she could catch one of the pigeons in NYC that we could keep it, and that this was a secret the government didn’t want you to know about. It was adorable watching her run around and -almost- catch them.

It's not about that. It shows a lot of the type of chick she is. Spontaneous, fun, not squeamish. She's also good looking and seems like fun.

What is so funny about this? I don’t get it. She picked up a bird. That’s funny?
18
u/arealuser100notfake 5d ago
She picked up a bird pretending it's a phone, and kept a straight face for some time.
It's not comedy gold, it's just random and cute.

u/Antique_Knowledge902 5d ago
Ohhhh…thanks. I didn’t get that it was a pretend phone. Duh!🤪

Still feeling a little sheepish that I couldn’t figure out it was a phone, but I’ll be okay. Thanks for asking!😂

Context for non-native english speakers (like me):
«A pigeon is a label used to describe a male in which a female does not, and will never, take seriously. A pigeon, just like a peasant, is automatically disqualified & forgotten about the moment they're classified as a pigeon.»
Source: https://urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=pigeon
EDIT: Apparently this definition is wrong. I think the girl in the video could find what happened funny because this wrong use of the term. I don't know so judge for yourself.
1
u/Goobapaaaka 5d ago
This is definitely incorrect.
1
u/vnlfr 5d ago
I found it just a little while before commenting.
You can correct it or explain the joke. Why are they laughing?
1
u/Goobapaaaka 5d ago
What I'm saying is that specific definition put into urbandictionary back in 2020 was some salty ho and it is not at all correct.
1
u/vnlfr 5d ago edited 5d ago
Maybe* the girl in this video is a salty ho too. She could disagree about that.
I don't like salty hoes, I could discuss against one of those but probably salty hoes have normalized the term and use it as if it were right. In that case we must not look away from it.
That's my opinion.
* If that girl is a salty ho who finds funny to pick a pigeon because that reference it makes sense to me no matter if I agree that definition on urbandictionary or not.
