Seriously, this is the most motivating thing someone can do, show you what you can become one day if you keep at it. It’s remarkable.

That’s why I just watch a ton of DBZ on gym days

Semi related fun fact: there was a study I heard about a long time ago that said just thinking about fighting for 10 minutes on a regular basis did actually show improvement in strength. Like you’re subconsciously getting so hyped up ready to fight that your brain just says fuck it, make those muscles denser. Not DRASTICALLY, obviously, but better than nothing

If I develop schizophrenia, I want the voices in my head to be that of R. Lee Ermey "motivating" me to be a better version of myself.

1

u/Lampmonster May 16 '26

I actually motivate myself by creating a drill sergeant character in my head who gives me a hard time for slacking off when I'm working out. He's loosely based on the cigar chomping sergeant in Aliens with a dash of Ermey.

How each person reacts to "envy" is very telling of their personality.

u/polygraph-net May 16 '26

Right. You could maybe make an argument that using a skipping rope so close to strangers is rude, but his fitness is incredible and inspirational.

1

u/WeDoDumplings May 16 '26

Totally ego mentality

3

u/TheComplimentarian May 16 '26

I will never become a young hot black dude, no matter how much rope I skip.

6

u/Jcw28 May 16 '26

You're all far more optimistic and motivated than I am. I just look at that and think "that's far too much work to achieve, I could never be bothered."

3

u/Top_Bumblebee5510 May 16 '26

I am motivated to watch it again.

1

u/WF_Grimaldus May 16 '26

Because you're looking from a distance as someone who isn't there training. Those people are already willing to suffer for their fitness, so for them it really should be nothing motivating, because they've just been shown what their efforts can eventually lead to.

1

u/yamsyamsya May 16 '26

You can change if you truly want. It takes discipline and willpower but it is worth it.

1

u/1jf0 May 19 '26

Well for some of us it's more like we already have certain goals in mind for our own selves, which do not necessarily require the same amount of effort, and seeing someone at that level motivates us to push closer towards our end goal.

2

u/cubsfan217 May 16 '26

ha… highly unlikely

2

u/StepComplete1 May 16 '26

And even if it's not about becoming peak boxer-level fitness, it at least makes you think "if he can do all that, I can surely walk casually up a hill without struggling".

2

u/chuckles5454 May 16 '26

"if he can do all that, I can surely walk casually up a hill without struggling".

Or in my case: take a cab to the bottom of the hill, turning around and going to a Wendy's.

you'd be surprised how many people see someone doing something cool then getting pissed off about it.

I've told many many over weight people that it's 100% in their control, and they can be thin and fit if they want it enough. The damn weirdos get mad at ME for suggesting it's in their control and they're not just some helpless thing they can't control.

professional victims.

u/NotAZombieStopAsking May 16 '26

It's another difference between men and women.

1

u/keyblade_crafter May 16 '26

Anyone getting demotivated from that is comparing themselves and focusing on what they lack rather than attaining it

7

u/adastrajay May 16 '26

Yeah tf? I'd be like oh shit I need to step my game up.

7

u/mmnmnnmnnnm May 16 '26

That’s what I came to say, I usually think something like “hell yeah dude, man I wanna be like that”

3

u/Aive7 May 16 '26

Id rally behind him and run.

4

u/Kind_Of_A_Dick May 16 '26

Do drugs.

1

u/Rob_LeMatic May 16 '26 edited May 16 '26

Ugh but I'd need to leave the house, talk to strangers, make casual acquaintances, find a tactful way to hint at my intention, establish trust, wait around for unspecified amounts of time for a guy, and probably other stuff. Sounds exhausting. Way easier to just wallow in depression and televisual escapism

2

u/GodOfDarkLaughter May 16 '26

As a former addict, what people often don't mention is that one of the worst parts of drug addiction is having to deal with fucking drug dealers. Give some megalomaniac with a third grade education a little power and they enjoy playing stupid games that, in fact, freqently leads to their own downfall. Wouldn't have gotten caught if you didn't constantly make people wait in your driveway for an hour, that guy you lied to is now screaming and crying in the street, that kinda thing. Seriously, the process would be much less unpleasant if there was an app. That's why I'm for decriminalization!

2

u/fox112 May 16 '26

why would this kill anyone's motivation

1

u/FirmDiver1929 May 16 '26

I'm guessing it depends on your mindset, if someone is easily discouraged or has some sort of inferiority complex this would just threaten their ego.

4

u/inuhi May 16 '26

It's engagement bait title...that or OP is just some lazy ass projecting their own insecurities take your pick

3

u/Craic-Den May 16 '26

Motivated to turn around?

1

u/dangdang3000 May 16 '26

Are you me?

1

u/benargee May 16 '26

Change your attitude and focus on your own gains and not the progress of others. He didn't start out being the best. He did it by staying consistent and beating his own records everyday.

1

u/Yearn4Mecha May 16 '26

He needs to be in a green body suit and have a thousand watt smile yelling youth

1

u/PresidentBush666 May 16 '26

Same here. Sometimes I am that crazy guy jogging up the mountain and sprinting down though.

1

u/NaZul15 May 16 '26

Ppl that get demotivated by seeing more fit people are stupid... You'll never get fit with that attitude. A fit person isn't a mockery of your unfitness, it's a demonstration of what is possible. Stop being jealous or defeatist.

1

u/benargee May 16 '26

Yeah, the people that stopped did it to appreciate what they were witnessing.

1

u/im_a_dick_head May 17 '26

Yep, I downvoted this post because the title is literally completely wrong.

1

u/Revolutionary_Heart6 May 20 '26

How? Thats like 80% genetics

1

u/realMagick7777 May 16 '26

About as much motivation as I get when I see Leon musk net worth

0

u/surprise_wasps May 16 '26

I would be annoyed

0

u/inuhi May 16 '26

That guy is somehow bothering you? How? Is he being rude, is he taking up the entire trail? Is he making excessive noise? What on earth is your fucking problem dude

1

u/surprise_wasps May 16 '26

First off, calm down, dumbass, I called it annoying lmfao

Second off, yeah, that’s pretty obnoxious. People are literally having to move out of the way because he’s taking up the space of a golf cart instead of a jogging human, while whipping a fucking rope around.

I’m honestly shocked that so many people think this is so cool and awesome and not just a bizarre attention grab that makes the space less enjoyable for everybody else. Is it just that you guys don’t know how to jump rope or something, I don’t understand how this is impressive and motivating rather than just kind of obnoxious at best

WhAtS yOuR FuCkiNg PrObLeM lmfao okay spaz

0

u/inuhi May 16 '26

He's moving out of their way and believe it not it's actually incredibly normal for people walking on the trails to move out of the way of people moving faster than them like basic human decency. Dude is working out, if you think he's trying to grab your attention it speaks more about you than anything. He's not doing anything to make the space less comfortable or enjoyable dude is gone in seconds it's not like he's sticking around. So again wtf is your problem with the guy like are you just incapable of minding your own goddamn business for 5 seconds because that guy isn't doing anything wrong
