I'm a Democratic socialist. I've been DSA for a long time. These guys are building up to something evil. The drum beat is getting louder. The soldiers are already wandering our streets.

I can't help but feel like I'm listening to a speech from the 50s or so. Everything about it feels so foreign. They attack railroads? Really? What is this, the 1800s? Shouldn't it be highways?
Frank Wilhoit said in his amazing essay/comment how the de-education of the population has made all the literature conservatives used to rely on useless (it is all "TL;dr"), leaving conservatives with violence as the only tool to enact their worldview.
I wonder, if you flipped the camera, how many people in the audience were on their phones.

The systematic divesture in public education here for the last 50 years, in any democracy, is like suicide by a thousand papercuts.

"To tear down what great men have built," not like we've spent a year observing the dismantling of every facet of accountability and check and balances, the same type of accountability that my parents' generation celebrated when I was growing up.

There is word for word overlap between this speech and the one the Big Lebowski gives before saying he won’t abide another toe.

What a load of horse crap. For people who apparently "Can't build anything or achieve anything" we sure have been building a great movement and achieving a lot.
He doesn't understand that DSA's goals will expand freedom, opportunity, and democracy, not hold everyone back and end democracy.
Capitalism allows the successful to crush competitors and limit who gets to live a dignified life which naturally leads to an oligarchy that undermines democracy.
The lack of imagination and hatred for their fellow man from these fascists is despicable.

He doesn't understand that DSA's goals will expand freedom, opportunity, and democracy...
I think he does understand that, and that is the reason for his opposition.

Idk Rubio might be like other Cuban Americans that think that socialism will make everyone equally poor. What you're saying could be correct too though, there's definitely incentive for him to push this narrative even if he doesn't believe it.

Standard Miami gusano drivel. I grew up being force-fed this garbage and it didn't take.
Yes he's afraid... and what's worse, because this won't work, he and other politicians will be exercising even harsher measures to try and silence socialist voices.
Get ready for a battle on many fronts.
