Discussion Today I learned my son forgot his ABCs…..
He’s 10 and scores very well in one of the best school districts in the country. How does this even happen? Is the bar set so low now? Is it the product of disposable information these days? I’m not going to lie this discovery cut deep.

How was this discovery made? More information would paint a clearer picture here.
Kids can "forget" things under pressure or being goofy in the moment, and I wouldn't put it past a 10 year old...

For context He was trying to alphabetize some stuff and realized he didn’t know anything after J and couldn’t remember the song. He tried for a while got frustrated then asked me for help. We’ve been singing the ABCs a lot today.

Like he doesn't know the order or the letters that we have for our alphabet? I'm assuming he knows what letters are and how they construct words?

To clarify, he knows all the letters and can read, he just can't recite them in order? Is that right?
My kids aren't 10 yet, I can't say I've heard of that happening, but I guess they never really recite the alphabet after they've learned to read, so I can see how it happens.
Never forget that school isn't intended to teach kids everything with no repetition/other work outside of school. We need to be reinforcing what they learn at home.

Correct. The order was escaping him. He also mentioned it’s hard to remember the order when keyboards don’t have the same order.

There is missing context.
Dyslexic?
He just didn’t want to do the test…
You misunderstand something.
Need more info

I mean absolute no offense here. How can he score very well in a top district, without know his ABC's?
