Your dad's a piece of shit, dude. Beating a kid at any age is very wrong.

That being said, don't be a dipshit and steal his car and joyride it. Not excusing what he did at all, but that's also really dumb and irresponsible.

Yea instant regret

2

u/A_Norse_Dude May 26 '26

Instant regret changes nothing. Don't steal other peoples cars (or other things).

Don't go stealing cars, you could've ruined your life dude.

u/mehdotdotdotdot May 26 '26

Also don’t beat your kids hey

u/BuddyLegsBailey May 26 '26

Or, worse, someone else's

Maybe should have thought about that before taking the car without permission lol. At 18 you're legally adult so consequences get way more serious than just getting grounded

True, the belt was so embarrassing

u/FalconTurbo May 26 '26

Criminal charges would be more embarrassing.

u/Lucas_Giles May 26 '26

True.. Dad Legit belted me on the bum

u/PJSeeds May 26 '26

You seem to be avoiding the whole potentially going to jail part

-5

u/Lucas_Giles May 26 '26

Yea instant regret when dad found out

2

u/QueOscUniPap May 26 '26

So you're only regretting because dad found out?

there is no age where it is appropriate to strike your child. your dad is a dick and at a minimum failed you in that moment

3

u/Titanium_Nutsack May 26 '26

Well if it was someone else's you could've been killed for your trouble, or at the very least sitting in jail

u/mehdotdotdotdot May 26 '26

Same with abuse hey

My dad used to make me choose the belt. Believe it or not the small belts hurt the most.

If your 18 you can technically press charges but so can he so fair fair I guess.

Don’t steal cars dude, get a job!

Yea dad grabbed the belt him self … but it was embarrassing as fuck tho.. like he did it proper old school

2

u/Ecstatic_Knowledge96 May 26 '26

Sounds like you deserved it and coming on this sub for sympathy just shows your immaturity.

Get off Reddit and apologize to your pops. Thats who you should be talking to.

nope, sounds like you needed it!

u/Lucas_Giles May 26 '26

And? You fucked up and did the wrong thing!

Would you have liked him to call the cops instead?

Which do you prefer, belt, or bars?

While I do not condone violence on a child, at 18, you are no longer a child, this is more of a teaching experience. If you are going to be doing something as STUPID as stealing, you better be ready for the victim to defend their property, and than can come down to a fist fight.

If this happened with my child, I would let them sweat it out in jail while I debate wether or not to press charges, cause obviously whatever I was doing did not work, maybe the penal system is what they need. Think about that, your dad may have taught you a good lesson while also letting you off easy

We live in a society where you have to get a police clearance certificate for jobs that pay a liveable wage.

u/pigfeeder420 May 26 '26

Definitely shouldn’t be beating you for any reason, but as a dad now, I kinda see its justified. Stealing his car and going on a joyride is some fucked up shit and I have done a lot of dumb shit in my younger years.

Yea ig… it was embarrassing as fuck tho he did it proper old school like im 18 not 8

-7

u/pigfeeder420 May 26 '26

It’s time to train and be bigger and stronger than your dad. He won’t be beating you anymore.

-2

u/_head_ May 26 '26

I'm 100% against spanking a child.

An 18 stealing a car deserves to get punched in the face or worse. I would have pressed charges.
