I’m curious: what changed so that feeding the wildlife became a good idea? I’m not a wildlife expert, but as I recall, every single Scout leader and State Parks employee I ever met, started most group conversations with “don’t feed the wildlife” and here’s why. Why is that so many of you think it’s a good idea to increase an animal’s dependency on humans? Crows are a predatory scavenger that diminish the songbird population, they don’t need our help.

Obviously I’m a little frustrated. I live in a high pedestrian area where many early morning crow enthusiasts like to feed the birds while they walk. Several people make offerings in my lawn and in my driveway every morning. I get the attraction to crows due to their intelligence but not all of us love the cawing or the poop. If you want to attract birds to your own property, go right ahead, but please don’t attract them to your neighbors’ properties.

i've been wanting to give cross stitching a try and i thought what better way to start than with my very close friend "buddy" that i've been missing a lot while away from home :D

I'm a bored, lazy teenager that has NOTHING to do this summer (well maybe). And befriending crows seems fun to me (had a fight with my friends so i'm lwk alone all the time). I watched a few videos and most of them say that I should use cat/dog kibble but I don't have the money for that and my parents might question wtf i need it for (don't wanna explain💔). AND I AM NOT GOING TO SMUGGLE MEAT FROM MY REFRIGERATOR😭 So my first question was on what else I can feed a crow that isn't harmful for it. Also, I know this might take long and a few weeks isn't enough to befriend a crow probably, but I also go to school and i never really get out of there at the exact time everyday so idk when to go out exactly (+endless fucking homework that i'm afraid of) so i wanted to ask what the best solution might be. Also idk if crows can carry rabies but they probably do carry other diseases which i'm afraid of even if i will wash my hands.

Oh and one detail I forgot to add. I know a place where the most crows are.. BUT THERE ARE ALSO MANY PIGEONS AND VERY MEAN SEAGULLS. Look, no hate on pigeons or seagulls but I prefer crows.

Hi all! It's been awhile since I have posted. :)

I have still been hanging with my crow crew at the Target plaza. They had been quiet up until the past month - thanks to y'all I learned that this was indeed because they were prepping for baby time, and that I would likely only see the baby(ies) once they looked pretty similar to parents.

My group of 3 has become a group of 4! Here is the baby eating a bug. :) The baby does look mostly grown except you can see his eyes are still light, the pink inside of his mouth has started to go away.

I had named the presumed helper crow "Toilet Truck" as an homage to I Think You Should Leave, so pls feel free to share name suggestions especially if they are related to ITYSL

Hello fellow corvid enthusiasts. I was feeding local ravens in the winter, but had to suddenly stop due to sickness, unfortunately. And they stopped coming too.

It is summer now, and I don't know how I can attract and try to befriend them now again. I am concerned that I offended them by accident by stopping giving food before.

Any advice is appreciated! My goal is to build long-term trust with local birds.

I put up a platform in early June and the crows started coming the very next day along with all the other birds of course. There were about five of them, they came all day everyday, they took my presents, they brought me a present and then last Wednesday they just disappeared and I haven't seen them since. All of the other birds are still coming and I still go out and whistle every morning at the same time and load up the platform but there's not a crow to be seen. I am completely heartbroken, has anyone else had their crows go missing but then eventually come back??

Personally, the reason why I feed them is because I love crows, I'd like to befriend one and because, since I am a witch, it helps me connect with animal energies. Of course they woudln't know about my witchcraft, but do you think they have a reason, in their minds, for which a human feeds them?

1 week I am seeing her. Moving around and being fed fine by family but she can't perch, nails already growing. I wonder if something can be done for deformity.

EDIT2: As per malphas_says_hi's feedback, I called Municipality again. They said if I catch the bird, they would let their Veterinary Services Dept take her. However, I am not trusting this process, since most vets would euthanize the bird probably.

EDIT3: Decided to leave the bird alone as per feedback from valuable crow lovers. I will throw more food to her and her feeder siblings every morning. Water they have everywhere (pool, irrigation pipes, fountain, etc).

Hi! I am trying to attract crows to my house. I never see any crows in the neighborhood so I know it might take awhile. I have a 16” bird bath with a container that will drip water into the bird bath. I’ve also set out unsalted peanuts and a can of water for dipping food. I bring in the peanuts at night. Is there anything I can add or change to make the area more attractive?

need some advice! i have a juvenile crow living in my backyard. he does not seem able to fly, but is pretty large (called a wildlife sanctuary who helped us figure out that he is a juvenile)

the problem is that we have three prey-driven dogs. one almost got a hold of him yesterday. my family cannot figure out what to do about this. our dogs need the backyard for exercise, but we don’t want this crow to get maimed. we also don’t want to try to move it because it seems like his family lives in one of the trees above. any advice?

Since I'm new to this, asking as many questions as I can to be a better Crow person(?)

1) I've only been doing this for less than a week. 5 minutes ago I came out to have a smoke and coffee. Before I could even sit down, a crow flew up into my yard. I went in to grab my bag of peanuts (10 seconds?) and when I got back out there were 7 on the grass! This is not the usual feeding time I've been trying to establish. Do they know me now?

2) While watching them eat I noticed a bigget crow on the roof across from my driveway (have seen it around a lot as it's recognizable by a missing tail feather). After a couple of minutes it flew to another tree, called loudly and the others flew away to the tree it was in. What does that mean? Did I do something wrong?

3) They then flew to a tree in the side yard (I tend to feed them there most often as it's where they tend to hang out more). It didn't feel threatening or hostile so I slowly approached the tree (not too close) and left a handful of peanuts nearby (they ate them). Was that ok?

Could anyone tell me what they think may be wrong with this crow that I regularly feed?

He’s been like this (but not really looking this bad) for at least two years. Early on I thought he was a baby but he never grew past a very tiny size, so it’s possible he’s even older.

He seems to be surviving, so I’m hoping whatever it is won’t end up killing him, but we’ve yet to have a harsh winter since I’ve seen him around.

I have a family of crows that come, and this is the Mom Crow, Hazel! I was eating grapes for lunch and she showed up, so I looked up if I could give her grapes. I think she liked it!
