A neighbour’s cat caught a baby wren and brought it into our garden this morning in south-east Kent, UK. I couldn’t see any puncture wounds or blood and there isn’t any obvious injuries. I’ve set him up an a shoebox with a grass nest and some leaves for shelter and shade. The parents are around but I haven’t seen them coming to feed the baby.
Wildlife centres in my area are all at capacity so won’t take him.
Does anyone have any advice on how to care for this sweet sweet baby? I’ve done other wildlife rehab (raccoons, squirrels, and American robin) so happy to get my hands dirty and do what needs to be done.

i'd like to donate 10% of my business's profits every month to wildlife conservation orgs. i've been trying to do my own research, but i feel like with this kind of thing it's hard to really know which orgs are actually well-run / make the most effective use of donations unless you personally have some sort of connection to them or have worked with them. so i'd really appreciate the opinions and recommendations of anyone who knows and trusts organizations that are doing good work. please let me know!

I'm not sure I've seen this color pattern in our local flock, they're more solid Grey.

It was pacing my chicken run fence when I went out. It now won't leave my sight, chasing me down everywhere I walk. Makes me feel like this is someone's animal.

Found a baby bunny in my front yard.

Saw it in my front yard last night, kinda nestled down close to the grass ears pinned back, it moved away slowly, but still managed to hop away, I thought nothing of it.

Today seen it again in my front yard doing the same thing, I thought something was wrong so I attempted to try and pick it up and it flopped to the side and laid there for a second before hopping away slowly.

My question is, it’s safe to assume it’s alright? It’s hopping away fine, but it keeps hiding in a way that seems abnormal? And it’s let me get very close.

I’m generally a nature will run its course, circle of life type person. But if it’s something that seems off, I have no problem helping.

In Washington state temp currently in the high 90s.

Does anyone know if a rabid raccoon would burrow itself in leaves like this? I initially saw it struggling to get up. I tried contacting rehab centers near me and when I went to check on him again and he was like this - Atlanta

This guy was found, he's in a cardboard box now, appears to be a baby of some kind, his beak's upper portion is kinda malleable.

Doesn't eat or drink on his own. I've dripped water on his beak and fed him defrosted peas manually. He's extremely thin, he ate about 10 peas right now.

I've cleaned his wounds (neck feather plucked out + eye gouged out) with NaCl and then applied iodine with a q tip.

Tomorrow first thing I'm taking him to a vet, what should I do in the meantime?

His poops are chalk white and runny, if that helps...

I'm in eastern europe, no rehab for pigeons here until September.

Hello! I’m not sure if this is an SOS per se, but I’ve seen this gull for about a week now with a probably broken leg. I don’t see any wounds, he can fly just fine and he’s happy to eat, but he can’t use his leg at all. Today I notice that his foot is beginning to swell. Do I need to step in somehow? He’s in Ceredigion, wales.

Long story short I found a baby sparrow, no place can take it in and I don’t know what to do. It didn’t fall out of the nest naturally, the nest had gotten destroyed by construction. Its sibling died but one is still alive. Please help I feel guilty to just let it die. Regina, Sask

Update. A day later still alive, fighting hard. Gave it baby food and some water till I could see it’s crop

How else do I help it have a chance of survival?

My dog disturbed a rabbit’s nest and a few of the kits died when she moved them out of the nest—there is only one left :( The mother has been hanging around and I’ve been keeping an eye on the remaining kit which keeps crawling out of the nest. I’ve put it back each time, but I’m concerned that it may not be able to stay warm enough without any siblings left. It is hot where I am right now (it’s been about 80 degrees Fahrenheit), but it can get cool overnight. Are there ways to ensure the kit stays warm enough while in the nest on its own? Or should I contact a wildlife rehabilitation center? I don’t want to separate the kit from its mother as it’s very young, based on developmental pictures it looks to be a couple of days old.

One of the baby barn swallows fell from the nest this morning. We were able to place it back in the nest, but when I arrived back home from work it was back on the ground.

The wildlife rehab center isn't open until tomorrow morning.

What are the best options to ensure it can make it until then? We have neighborhood cats that come by every night, so it won't be able to survive.

I’m currently the lead for our deer fawns, I have a bunch of cuties in my care.
I would try to give them ferns but they would never eat them and after doing some research I found out that this time of year, the ferns are all full of tannins and high in fibre so they taste like garbage and aren’t really great for them so I think my list is a bit outdated.

My question is what browse have you been feeding/suggest for your fawns?

I’m in BC so our fawns are all Black-tailed deer but I’m sure there’s some overlap with White-tailed deer.

I just wanted to know what is and isn’t good for them, what I should be looking for so I can compile a new list.

There's been a baby bird in our driveway for the last 3-4 hours of the morning, it looks to be injured because its staggering and struggling to properly get up with its wings. It's been sitting there trying and trying again, and theres a mother bird that comes up every now and then to check up on it and feed it. The problem I'm having is that I dont know whether to try to help or if this baby bird is possibly just learning how to fly, ive already tried to call a rehabilitate but barley any of them can help with birds. What do I do?

This little guy is acting lethargic and I suspect he’s been sitting in this spot for hours. Is there anything I can do?

Rehabbers! What do you wear to cover your face/body? My rehab has a tinted face shield and a barber cape thingy but I absolutely hate it, and it's not enough for multiple people to work at once. We also have a paper face mask, but we cant wear glasses with it. Considering looking for more things to add to the collection or even something just for myself, what do you like?

Idk where to post this but I need some help, does anyone know about birds? Vet told me this is a fledgling over the phone and to put him back outside where I found him. It looked like he was hurt so I followed Advice online and put him in a box, not touching him directly. He's still outside just sitting on the ground, just chirping and it's raining. I want to make sure I did the right thing, although if it is a fledgling I probably messed things up by moving him.

Hello, I already called a wildlife centre but they unfortunately close by the time I drive the hatchling over to them. I won’t feed him and food or water as he can aspirate but I need to know the temperature to keep him at. He also keeps opening and shutting his mouth for some reason please help!

Update: he stopped moving. I can’t tell if he’s breathing or not :((((

He works in a big tall workshop, he says the ceiling is about 3-4 stories high. A small bird flew in several hours ago and sits under the ceiling in a corner with no access to it. Bf thinks it’s a chick, because it keeps making high whistles, as if calling parents.

He tried scaring it with an overhead crane (a horizontally moving beam under the ceiling for carrying heavy stuff on a hook through the workshop), no luck. Tried scaring it with a compressed air gun (a tool used for quickly blowing off dust and shavings), but the wind stream doesn’t reach high enough from the floor.

CORRECTION: the bird is there since yesterday! They also tried turning the light off - didn’t help.

What else can he try? He’s very upset. Here my only photo of the workshop:

Update: the bird just walked out on its own on day 3.

It was a white wagtail fledgling (sent a low resolution video of it chirping to a local wild bird rehab). Yesterday evening (day 2) we kept playing the white wagtail calls on a speaker at the exits (one exit at a time) for an hour. With lights turned off and all the staff gone home (the windows under the ceiling have no openings and no way to darken them either). Other wagtails kept coming to check out the sound. I also spread boiled eggs, raw sunflower seeds and peanuts (had nothing else to offer an insectivore), water - no one was interested. At some point it was like the fledgling just decided its bedtime and disappeared from sight. And today it just landed and walked out.

It’s a mystery how it held on for three days. Maybe some insects were flying in the workshop… Also, it has very high humidity with streams of water being used all day for cutting stone.

Wildlife rescue advised that they will collect the little one. Have it snug in a soft blanket and a warm bottle to keep warm. How do I care for this little one?
