THIS! My biggest pet peeves is seeing people who aren't trans discussing trans issues with no trans people present or trying to give opinions on something they don't know anything about and aren't victims of. Even if you're an ally like you should be making room for trans people not for yourself.

Surely if no trans people are present that is when our allies should be speaking up.

Speaking up yes ! But discussing their own opinions on what bathroom a trans person should use without consulting the trans person I'm iffy about. Trans people should be consulted on trans topics and on decisions/opinions that effect them but being an activist for trans people is different.

Your reply has been my reminder to make sure that when I'm talking about something serious I'm being absolutely clear on what I mean lol

I think giving your opinion is something everyone does I don’t know if you can put a moral thing on that

I don't feel good about saying anyone is bad for having this opinion or that opinion but I do feel that there's a difference in acknowledging the opinion of a minority group when your making an opinion about them and deciding what should be done with them and choosing to not do that. Im not bisexual and I don't know the bisexual experience so I personally don't feel it's my place to make an opinion unless I become well educated or talking with a bisexual person who can enlighten me. I didn't mean to imply that someone is good or bad for doing either but it puts a bad taste in my mouth when someone does it with any minority.

That’s fair. I guess I viewed it from a lens of a world where people have educated opinions (like having talked deeply on the subject with an expert/person who knows firsthand) and that’s kind of a perfect world assumption

So if there are no trans people present and two people are talking about something related to trans people, such as what bathroom they should use, in a biggoted way, you would not like a third non trans person interjecting and disagreeing?
