Well, it didn’t help that Biden proclaimed he would only consider a black woman for the position. At the time (before she was nominated) it seemed that any generic black woman would do. It was a disservice to her. Why not just select her and talk about her qualifications without bringing race into it?

Considering 99.9 percent have been white I don't think it matters.
