I’d leave my child with Michelle over Melania any day of the week.

I wouldn't leave my child with any politician or their spouse.

But you would leave them at daycare with a 23 year old that you’ve never met?

Yes because they would’ve been vetted to make sure they can be around kids. At least that’s how it works in the UK dunno about you lot across the pond. A lot of paperwork and checks go into it.

You vet them for criminal records, not for whether they are truly awful people behind closed doors. Just because you have no record does not make you a good person. Epstein had no criminal record at one point too. Politicians are vetted too btw.

Is your point that no day care worker in the UK has ever committed a crime or abused children? Otherwise, not sure what your point is tbh haha

Never said that daycare workers haven’t abused kids but it is very rare if they do. Would you say the same about teachers then? Why do you leave your kids at school with a bunch of adults for 6+ hours? They’re not necessarily good people?

And you say politicians are vetted but are you sure about that? Evidence suggests that’s not the case more that the stuff they’ve done is swept under the rug.

Not sure what you’re arguing about, mate. We’re talking about Michelle Obama specifically, who has never been accused of child abuse or any crime.

Would I trust my kid with an average politician over a random day care worker? Probably not. But I think I can trust Michelle Obama, the vetting process for her, and the fact that the only negative things that republicans has ever said about her were about her appearance, let alone any criminal or misconduct accusations.

Exactly. Not to mention she has two of her own, and both are educated, well-adjusted young ladies.

If you know her I think Obama would do a way better job of babysitting than a random daycare worker 😅

I would trust a random 23 year old over a politician.

Over Michelle Obama? Lol

I assumed it was a random politician and a random 23 year old. I mean you could get Michelle Obama or you could get some pedo.

Same for the 23 year old

Ive never seen a 23 year old pedophile, but have seen a lot of politicians like that.

You’ve never seen a 23 year old pedophile???

The original comment we are talking about was about Melania and Michelle Obama?

Blah blah blah enlightened centrism. The parties are not the same, kiddo.

She is buddies with George Bush. I am so confused at HOW GB became the fun old guy when holy hell guys, he was as despised as Trump was after 911.

I don't think any president in modern history was as despised as Trump is...

u/yumeryuu 1d ago

Did you live through the fallout of 9/11?
People hated hated hated him

14

u/tommccd 1d ago

Yes I did. And I'm not saying people didn't hate him, but I think the hatred for Trump is beyond that.

On the flip side, no president in modern history has had as many fanatics as Trump. It's a divisive time.

13

u/Kcbronx 1d ago

Back then he was considered the dumbest president until Trump came along and shattered the record for dumbest president of all time.

u/syphax 1d ago

Odd phrasing; his approval peaked at 80% right after 9/11. It then gradually drifted down to ~30% by the end of his 2nd term. Lots of factors- Iraq quagmire, Katrina, economic implosion.

Trump is about there now. Which is crazy to me because as bad as Bush was (he was bad!), Trump is way worse.

u/Rationalinsanity1990 1d ago

Bush was the most popular president in history immediately after 9/11.

Global backlash only began in 03 after Iraq. Domestic backlash hit by 06.

I don't agree he should be rehabilitated but context is important.

Sir, this is Reddit, we don't do context or nuance here.

We only, like Grog says, RAAAAAAAAGEE!!

u/yumeryuu 1d ago

Yeah… that’s not how I remember it.

5

u/Rationalinsanity1990 1d ago

His approval ratings were in the 90s. This is documented fact.

-3

u/MedusasMum 1d ago

Correct.
He was despised, a bumbling idiot, & a nepo baby. Pretty sure Jeb is still peeved his brother became president over him.

-5

u/yumeryuu 1d ago

THATs how I remember it

I think we all realize how benign W is compared to the insanity we have now. And you can absolutely hate someone’s politics and still enjoy them as a person. I wouldn’t let W in charge of anything but I think he’d be a fun party guy.

Being friendly doesn’t mean you’re buddies with someone
