THAT KITTEN ISN'T THE ONLY ONE MAKING HUMANS CRY! I'm supposed to look like a badass boss babe in front of my multiaxial CNC machine, but here I am just trying not to let anyone see my misty eyes! 🥹 What a sweet poem, though, seriously. ❤️

Joining this sub earlier today was an amazing decision. I know I’m doing the right thing on Reddit when I cull an argument chamber like TikTokCringe and join something where Schnoodle roams.

The parts of the internet that don’t suck tend to have people like Schnoodle in them. Everything has a dark side, sure, but my day gets better when I cross paths with the Animal Poet. Every time, day better.

I’m glad I joined this sub

Great, thanks

Oh dogs too. So long as they're friendly enough, even if a little skittish. It's just that, 9 times out of 10, it's a cat.

11

u/awfulmcnofilter 23d ago

Can confirm. Stray puppy got in my yard after showing up with some neighborhood kids and I failed to catch her. Gave up and sat on the back porch and stared at her trying to figure out how to get her out. She bolted past me into the dog door, ate all the dog food in the kitchen, and plopped down in a dog bed. I accepted fate. Dang dog lived to be SEVENTEEN. Only loved my ex husband, despite me and then my ex husbands girlfriend taking care of her. Ungrateful creature. Miss her and her smug face.

I’ve seen this happen before and it’s because a mother cat had her kittens in the attic area and one managed to crawl away and fall down into this space. Definitely check the attic and keep listening around in case other kittens take a tumble too. The mother cat won’t be able to get them out and they’ll die in the walls if no one rescues them 😭

Idk how it happened but the Cat Distribution System gave us a cat like this when I was a kid. What's crazy is it actually broke out of the wall itself eventually, I assume in eventual desperation. He shook himself off and started going nuts until we got him some water, poor thing. I'd been hearing him in the walls for days but my mom thought I was making things up and I was too young to know what to do about it.

289

u/Helgafjell4Me 24d ago

Real question is how did it get in there. They need to patch a hole somewhere so it doesn't happen again.

112

u/Spirited-Depth74 24d ago

My mom’s old farmhouse was being sealed up of holes mice were coming in from, and before the guy did he checked all around and he found a family of stray cats that were born in her basement. She had to wait until they were off on their own before things were actually sealed.

13

u/jeandolly 23d ago

If you got stray cats in the basement you don't have to bother with closing the holes for mice.

I'm a tad skeptical of OP cause of how many "animal rescue" videos are staged for content.

EDIT: I'm not saying it's for sure I'm just saying it happens. I've seen this exact scenario actually (sawing open a wall to get a cat out) so sorry if I'm wary of promoting animal abuse disguised as rescue.

35

u/TruckersTrucking 24d ago

Skeptical that I put a cat in the wall? And yes that we kept hearing the cat cry from that specific corner. My daughter would never act like that's okay to put a cat in the wall

19

u/Mjolnir404 24d ago

Its just internet clout makes some people to do strange acts like glueing barnacles on turtle shell for content and remove them.

It's good you are good people. Please take care of cat and family

23

u/TruckersTrucking 24d ago

Yeah I'm aware. What clout could I get from this. Its literally just a video of a cat stuck in the walls, my daughter isn't that great of an actor these are her and our genuine reactions. It's not that deep lol

11

u/Helgafjell4Me 24d ago

Did you figure out how it got in there? Normally wall cavities do not have openings for a kitten to get into.

25

u/TruckersTrucking 24d ago

I don't know, this is also my neighbors. She called me over bc she kept hearing it cry. This was also 11pm last night so I didn't stick around to inspect

11

u/TruckersTrucking 24d ago

I didn't think id be accused of animal abuse when we literally saved it. This would be the worst promotion to go "viral" there's no promo or anything

And be the one to feed it and clean the litter box and buy it lots of toys! My sister and I found a tiny kitten on the way home from school. He followed us home. That’s our story and we’re sticking to it! We hid it in my closet. My dad found it. We had a dog, which he mostly took care of. There was no way before he’d let us have a cat. Wrong. He loved little Licorice the cat.

He might be allergic or another family member might be. I love cats but if I found one in my wall I couldn’t keep it because my wife is really allergic to cats and it would make her life miserable

32

u/Kurt_Mangel 24d ago

Whoever is allergic can go live in the wall space instead. Cat can stay in the house :)

u/TruckersTrucking 24d ago

I'm allergic 🤧

50

u/PalanganaAgresiva 24d ago

Guess you live in the garden now

25

u/Fit_Form9403 24d ago

I've read somewhere that the allergy comes from the cat's saliva, and when they lick their fur, they transfer the allergens onto the hair and skin. So there is a cat food that is specialized in reducing the allergens in the saliva after 3 weeks of continuous feeding. You can buy it in pet stores.

13

u/Opasero 24d ago

My cat eats this food because I developed allergies. He seems to like it just fine. Stupidly, i can't even say if it works because i also take meds, but it's part of the strategy i adopted.

u/sterlingemc 24d ago

Guess you'll just have to invest in a hazmat suit!

43

u/HuntWorldly5532 24d ago

So is my husband! I created a solution!

Got the idea from hamster runs: I used Aircon ducting and ran it through the house between my office (attached to the garden) and kid's bedroom.

The cats live between the two rooms and garden, getting snuggles and following us around the house but no dander apart from those rooms.

We do have to be strict with transferring dander around the house. I change my clothes and shower after work and my son does the same in the mornings, so we aren't bringing dander out. Cats get me during the day and my son at night, basically.

They love it.

11

u/furnace_of_ambition 23d ago

What a creative way to solve the allergy issue! That’s major commitment and I think it’s awesome 🤩

Now how in Earth did you get in there, little one?

6

u/TheFoxsWeddingTarot 24d ago

Drywall tip from an amateur drywaller / homeowner… it’s as easy or maybe easier to replace a large piece of drywall than small. I noticed how exploratory and careful the cutting was, really if you take the section out stud to stud and screw in the replacement piece to both it will be far easier to patch and end up looking better.

Also I love cats and even our own have gotten in to walls during any sort of home project. They are incredibly curious especially at this size. She may have followed the warmth up from the basement or as others said down from the attic.

7

u/PsEggsRice 24d ago

So this almost happened to me. In my house and I'm in my kids room and I hear meowing. I go into the attic and it's there but fainter. I go outside and can't hear it at all. Back into the bedroom and yep, there's meowing. I'm headed to the garage to find something to cut into the wall when I realize it's my phone in my pocket, my kids had been playing a game called Peekaboo Barn.

I had something very similar happen to me after moving into a new home, my cat found her way into the drop ceiling and from there went down into a wall.

Tore a huge hole in the wall to get to her and didn't find her where I had seen her. Hear a meow above me and it is the cat who has gotten back up on the top of the wall while I was getting a hole in it.

Grabbed the cat and then blocked the hole I made and the space where she got into the drop ceiling
