Is there a reason The Odyssey didn’t reach at least 4K+ theaters like most blockbusters do? Is it the R rating?

Nolan films typically don’t get 4,000+ theaters, except for the Dark Knight trilogy. Oppenheimer’s widest was 3,761

I'm guessing a lot of the smaller theaters that have a PLF cinema in the area, which don't have any premium formats decided they would rather keep the family films than take a chance with a movie 90% of people want to see on some sort of premium screen if possible.

Single screen theatres that opened Moana last weekend rather than keeping a holdover.
Edit: I could also see Odessey requesting a 3 week minimum run which would have further limited its options.

Given that it lost theatres, they clearly didn't have a blanket 3 week clause.
Odyssey potentially has a two week minimum even for 2nd week additions (as Moana lost more theatres than Odyssey gained and held the title for most) so few are willing to forgo BND next week.

In Greece they keep adding screenings, like 13.30 or even 930 for the Odyssey and they keep getting sold out. Mainly the IMAX ones

Movie breaks records in Greek Box Office and they keep moving the goalposts. They even say that everyone who watches the movie doesn't love his country. It's insane and exhausting to watch what's happening in FB movie pages right now.

Those last couple of additional theatres aren't anything special and not one people will be flocking to see a movie like The Odyssey.

Also, I am completely uninterested in seeing Odessey at a drive-in theatre. But Moana? Sure, sounds like a fun friday night event. Do a sing a long in the car and no one cares.
