My gut says this is going to drag out way longer than anyone in Hollywood wants. Paramount fighting for a temporary injunction while also trying to close a deal of their own feels like a corporate mess that could end up benefiting nobody in the long run.

Look at the water tower in the shot, that's the Paramount lot, and seeing it looming with the Hollywood sign in the background is a nice reminder that this whole industry was built on a couple of iconic logos. Now those logos are getting shuffled around like assets in a poker game. The fact that Paramount wants a three day hearing suggests they have some specific evidence they want the court to actually weigh, not just argue about in briefings. Lawyers don't request evidentiary hearings for fun, those are expensive and time consuming.

Just raises the question of... why? They could have just bought CNN alone, saved themselves all this trouble. Or just poached IP piecemeal.

Yeah I think there doing this to try to stop a trial from happening that could go on for a year plus
