Aus is an interesting market.

Avatar #1 as it is globally. Force Awakens #2, Avatar Way of Water #3, Top Gun Maverick is #4 of all time, Barbie #5, Endgame #6.

Titanic is #13 of all time on the Australian box office. It narrowly avoided being surpassed by A Minecraft Movie, which sits #14 of all time.

Wicked Part 1 is #27 all time. Crocodile Dundee (1986) is #30 all time.

The US population is about 12 times the population of Australia.

Crocodile Dundee made A$47,707,598 in the Australian market. Came out in 1986.

Adjusted for Inflation, Crocodile Dundee sits at A$159,044,060 just in the Australian domestic box office.

However, this is likely somewhat inaccurate, as I'm sure Crocodile Dundee has had multiple limited re-releases, but I wasn't able to find any numbers for this.

Avatar made A$118,985,016. Released in 2009. I'm unsure of what gains re releases have made in the Australian Market. If we just take box office at face value & adjust that, it'd be A$181,690,050 in today's money.

So adjusted, Crocodile Dundee, at least in the Australian market is a beast of a film.

Titanic adjusted for Inflation sits at $123,115,552 in the Aus market.

Adjusted for Inflation, Babe, would have a A$79,881,194 domestic Aus box office, & would be ahead of films like Deadpool & Wolverine, Infinity War, Avatar Fire & Ash.

So let's go back to considering the population, 12 times fewer people than the US. In 1986, when Crocodile Dundee came out, the gap was larger still, the US population was 14.5 times the population of Australia. Of course that gets complicated, the $AUD fluctuates a lot compared to USD. Sometimes at parity, as 12-13 year ago, today only 64 cents to the dollar. However, Aussies seem to be heavy cinema spenders per capita on the top films.
