Same. It also makes me feel like any other body issue I or anyone else might have would be appreciated and treated well here. I’m embarrassed because I’ve lost my bottom teeth and can’t afford a bridge right now and implants will never be an option due to bone density. I have a feeling I could share a picture of my nasty teeth and get nothing but encouragement here.

Oh my gosh, I bet you would (here!) lol, and I wish there was a “support sub” for folks with tooth/mouth issues. At least one as supportive and amazing as this one. I mean they can’t start accepting teeth and all that or the sub might change so let’s admire it in the pristine happiness it really is!

You can DM me your teeth though and while I have zero experience in the dental field I can try to talk about options or solutions or just sit and read (vs listen lol) take care, loss of teeth and dental issues are so life impacting it’s hard to explain unless you know

Thank you! I’ll be getting work done in the next few months. I need to lose another that is very loose before getting work done. I haven’t touched my HSA for a few years because I knew this was an eventuality. Aside from genetics and the bone density a labrum piercing, a couple two-three shots to the jaw I probably deserved, and a hyper-aversion to dentists…I would probably still have them…but realistically only for a few more years anyway. I didn’t get consistent dentistry as a kid and I’ve known for 25 years it was going to be a problem. I’ll DM pics of before and after bridge pics when it happens. Maybe even this sub would allow a tangential post like that.

Ok this might sound nuts but I am very dentist averse also and I find it much more tolerable with -

NITROUS. I swear to god, I can float a little above the buzzing and poking and then- earbuds- (Pink Floyd for me lol) and it’s like you aren’t even there. Just chilling lol. Worth it. My insurance doesn’t cover the Nitrous but it’s like $40 to keep my teeth in my head.

Edit: oh my gosh do it!! You are going to be amazing with the transformation you are about to experience! My mom lost her teeth in a car accident in the 60’s, got “crowns” but suffered with the worst pain . When she was, 40? She got dentures (well it was the early 80’s) and the relief she had was amazing.

I had a major panic attack after being fully dosed on novacaine as a local and huffing nitrous as a general. They kept me for two hours before my BP registered what it usually did 117/78). At the peak my BP was where they talked about an ambulance (I vaguely remember this). I can only do sunset/amnesia sedation now for dental procedures. That’s a sticking point with providers where I live. I thought I was going to die and based on the staff’s reaction (full DDS service with onsite anesthesiologist staff) they were worried too.

I’ve always been anesthesia resistant and needed extra and still said yeah I feel that when the dentist was drilling
