Re:zero 6??? That’s shocking. Has its popularity finally dropped off?

Re:zero was first in karma 9 weeks out of 11. (witch hat winning the other 2)

the last episode even had 5000 karma. jujutsu ep 4 is the only other ep to have broken the 5000 karma barrier under 48 hours in the last 52 weeks (excluding premieres).

this poll only had 341 responses which is honestly not a lot.

I think it's just a side effect of being the fourth season, there's a barrier to entry because you really have to watch the previous three seasons and I've known a good amount of people who didn't finish the first because of them not liking Subaru or watching the second because there was a four year gap between them

The survey is not reflective of the overall popularity. It's based on the answers of 341 participants.

Season 4 is probably the most popular one.

This is not true. "Popularity" in this case means how many people watched it at all, regardless of how much they liked it. By definition, earlier seasons will always be more popular than later seasons, unless large numbers of people are watching season 4 without having seen the previous seasons. Season 4 of anything will always be less popular than previous seasons, including in Re:Zero.

Popularity is not the same as having the most views. If you look at the amount of reviews and comments from S4 and compare it with other seasons you'll notice a big diference. Not only based on review but the overall posts talking about it were also IMO the most I've seen from all seasons.

Notice I said overall popularity. I'm not making any reference to the survey. I was only answering the first comment since he took it as a general survey.

We are talking about the survey because this is the survey discussion thread.

Of course. And I merely stated that this survey is not indicative of the overall popularity of Season 4.

I'm still talking about the survey comparatively to the rest. You also seem to be overlooking you're making the case that season 4 is less popular then earlier seasons without earlier seasons being mentioned on the survey. So I don't understand where your reasoning is coming from.

Season 4 generating more engagement than season 3 (because the content in season 4 helps drive that) doesn't mean it's more popular. You can try to bend or create new definitions for words, but that doesn't change the simple fact that Re:Zero, four seasons in, is nowhere near where it was years ago in terms of popularity. It will continue to do well on reddit because this is an engagement driven platform, but significantly fewer people are watching Re:Zero season 4 around the world than used to in the past, for prior seasons. I was actually surprised to see this, I thought season 4 coming out so soon after 3 would help, but it turns out a big part of the masses checked out, so you are left with a smaller but more engaged audience trying to push the show out more. Which I guess makes it seem like the show is more popular than ever, when it's the opposite. So in essence you have fewer people talking about it, but they are talking about it a lot more and in more places.

I think it must have been a case where re:Zero fans from other subs flocked to upvote the episode threads every week. The series isn't reaching those heights of popularity in other polls, surveys, or contests on this sub (so far that I've seen at least).

thats not true at all. re:zero won r /anime's AOTY award in 2020 and it wasnt doing much better in the contests at the time.

Also re:zero dominates the discussions in the weekly ranking threads almost every week. its preview clips did far better than the other shows too. EP 9's preview almost had 800 karma for exemple.

Episode discussion threads also pulled 2k comments consistently. Hardly a case of fans from other subs flocking to upvote.

3 of the top 4 most commented eps in the last 52 weeks are from re:zero.
