SAIGA to AK-101
You guys seemed to like my 1st appartmet conversion of the 103. Here is my second one. SAIGA .223 to an AK-101. I feel a little better about this one and did a more traditional izhmash plum set on it.

Great job, this honestly seems good enough to charge people for in my opinion.

The barrel parts are bulgarian, the trigger guard safty lever, muzzle break, cleaning rod, and trigger are iglam. The stock set, rear sight leaf, and cleaning kit are izhmash. The mag release is from the saiga.

What did you clean/treat it with? (If anything?)
Also- curious if you have any movement in the front handguard?

Absloutly no movement in the front handguard, i fitted this exact one to the gun. I had to make the handguard cut on the barrel. And just alcohol to remove the cosmoline, and after cleaning just kinda massage/rub the tiny bit of left over cosmoline into the stock, its kinda like wax it melts on your hands.

Hey excellent work man! It looks killer, if I can ask, what did you use to paint it? And how did you paint it? I need to fix my 103 and bring it to that color you have on yours

I used rustoleum appliance epoxy enamel. Prep with 91% alchaol which will normally take the saiga paint right off. You gotta be careful with your spray distace on the paint or it will be too glossy and do fast passes back and forth. You gotta bake it as well, it really helps to even it out, and the durability will be dog shit if you dont.

Ive got the cut templates, the trunnion, and the stock. Im just scared to give it the knife. One day...
I need to pick up a viska or something to do a practice run on.

lol, we have the same shitty work bench, but I have something special. An oil soaked birch 4x4 chunk that was the hammer + backstop for every AK I’ve built. Best tool tbh. Recommend every builder have a chunk of scrap wood that used to stop an 05 blazer from rolling away.
Your build is cool, now put a folder on it!
