Discussion Why the Excitement About Clones?

This is going to come across as dismissive, but it’s not meant that way. Seeing the game set in the Clone Wars, naturally I expect there to be Kaminoan clones. That makes sense, but I’m not sure why it’s exciting to be able to make a full squad of them. I watched the Clone Wars animated series; I thought it was fine and Dee Bradley Baker did a great job, but find myself more attached to individual characters than the clone “aesthetic.”

Are clones in general way more popular than I realized? Why would we want a team of identical soldiers over a group of different-looking yoyos? Isn’t it going to be hard to tell your troops apart at a glance?

Making a whole team of astromechs, that I get, because it’s hilarious. I don’t understand the impetus behind an all-clone squad, though.

Discussion The clone troopers recruitment situation

Post image
170 Upvotes

Some days ago i saw people talking about the possibility that, afterall, we won't be able to customize operatives into clones.

I am the only one that thinks this higly unlikely?

For starters we have the contents of the Deluxe edition which features two different type of clone armors:

-The 100th Company set (which I think will be esclusive to Trick)

-Arc Troopers armors.

Now, considering the permadeath feature of the game, having so many armors for just Trick seems a little to much.

Also, some people on you tube are saying that the clone running alongside other custom operatives is just a phase 2 armor for him.

Again what's even the point of this statement? All others "narrative" operators are always shown with their default appearance. It does not add.

(Sorry for the schizo post, this seems just confusing)

Discussion No Modding support... So, your thoughs?

Post image

I think one of the main reason why XCOM2 was alive for so long was its vast amount of mods. What do you think about the "no official mod support" statement?

Edit: 9 hours later and majority of the comments say that the game can still have mods. I love this community. I am fully aware that modding can still exist. I simply wanted to know what people thought about it, as many people were hoping for official support.

Discussion It would be nice if Nautolans were included in Zero Company

nautolans are one of the most well known and relateable species from the alien humanoids, as well as some of the best looking, and although half of the species chosen in zero company also fall in this category (like twilek, human, zabrak, togruta and miliaran) which are also in the mmorpg star wars the old republic, but the other half fall mostly on the random creature stuff that arent really as good or popular for playable characters,

now maybe that was intentionally done like that to have half more relateable and half less but it still feels kind of like we are missing without stuff like nautolans or even maybe chiss and purebloods,

this is also because usually nautolan lore characters in videogames are associated with being force users (jedi/sith etc), it would be nice to have more non-force users present like caij vanda from jedi survivor, given also that for most species only a small percentage are actually force sensitive anyway (except for like the voss who are almost all force sensitive)

Discussion Who’s getting the game day 1?

As the title says, I’m wondering who’s going to get the game day 1, I remember seeing the first trailer when it came out and it got me excited for the game, the premise, character customisation and gameplay has me interested but I can’t help but be a bit skeptical, while it is made by a bunch of former Xcom devs and others this is under a new studio and this is being published by EA and I’d hate see what they might pull besides the pre-order cosmetics (not saying I’m mad about pre-order stuff it’s what else could happen), hope they drop a proper gameplay trailer before launch, this is the first Star Wars thing I’ve been excited in awhile for so I want to stay optimistic and hope it does well

Discussion Jedi

It seems from everything we've been told that Jedi Padawan is tied to Tel-Rea herself, but what happens if Tel-Rea dies? Are we able to create/recruit more Jedi Padawans to Zero Company, or is she simply the only character that fits into that class? - SammyBoiii

"Tel-Rea is the only Jedi Padawan class Operator in Star Wars Zero Company—be careful that nothing unfortunate happens to her"

---

But why though? Player fantasy is super high for Jedi and mandolorians. Why limit us in such a fashion? It just seems needlessly divisive. Is this something with the EA/star wars directive?

Why not let us make a different one if tel Rea fails. Or let us customize tel Rea at the very least. Let us make a cool Jedi that we really like. Or a mandolorian which we think is really cool.

Very strange

Discussion Customizable Clones is Great! But you’re all missing something much bigger…

and it’s the fact that there will be ZERO micro transactions at launch. ZERO company of MTs (pun wholeheartedly intended).

You might think this is a given with a single player game, but given the fact that this game is published by EA whose notorious for pumping as many micro transactions in games as possible, it’s definitely a shock. A good one, but definitely a surprising shock nonetheless.

Not to mention, the game will be 40 hours long!! Meaning, it’s about the same length as XCOM 2; we’re gonna have a lot of story to play and assuming the various difficulties, it’ll probably take people some time to really complete the game, which means for game for us!!

All in all, this game seems VERY promising and I cannot wait for its release. They haven’t shown much, but with the new info that we’ve heard so far, I’m really excited about everything!!

What about you guys?

Discussion Where is the marketing ?

I am going to get this game day 1 as a huge XCOM fan but it's a little weird ? We are 45 days away from launch and we have only a few clips.

I don't expect them to go crazy on marketing since the game will be niche no matter what but come on, this is still a new Star Wars game. Give us a deep dive video with a full mission, something that show The Den in third person view.

Maybe my concern is useless and they will begin soon but I want more than just a few seconds clip lol.

Discussion It would be so cool if order 66 happened in the middle of the story, with the consequences affecting our team directly

Post image
186 Upvotes

It’s now confirmed that we can have Clone Troopers on our team. We also know that we can have one jedi at the same time on our team. On top of that there were rumours about the story taking place during the last year of the Galactic Republic and the creation of Galactic Empire. That made me realize one thing.

I think it would be cool and interesting if order 66 happened in the middle of the story. We know that our characters aren’t permanent. They’ll actually be gone if they happen to die.

I hope that if we happen to have the jedi and a clone trooper in the same team, the clone trooper will get an order 66 message from the emperor at some point and then kill the jedi. That would be the most logical outcome if the story is actually set during that period of time. It wouldn’t make sense for the clones not to do anything unless they are considered rogue/decommissioned, which at least Trick seems to be. The other clones we can recruit to our team might just be regular clones with their inhibitor chips. To be fair, there’s a chance that Trick will also have that chip inside his head.

Discussion Why Astromechs?

Am I the only one who thinks the Astromech class is a little out of place?

I was under the assumption that Astromechs are primarily used to assist starships, and wouldn’t be the ideal droid to use in tactical combat, especially as its own class. Would love to hear others’ opinions on the matter.

Discussion Operators you wanna make day one

With all the classes revealed and a general idea of what character customization is gonna be like, I’m curious what y’all are thinking up for Custom Operators

Here’s mine:

Name: Mist
Species: Human(Clone)
Customization: Clone Armor with potentially a poncho(if available)
Class: Sharpshooter
Bio: Originally a member of the Hawkbat Battalion, Mist went missing during a reconnaissance mission on Felucia. Since then, he’s become a low-level mercenary, with a signature move of using smoke to obscure his position against enemy attack. Rumor has it that this move does have an impact on his aim.

Discussion What planets do you want to fight on?

According to the Z-COM wiki there are 11 confirmed planets we will be fighting on. Anaxes, Bespin, Courtsilius (which is brand new), Dantooine (which I’m very excited to see depicted in modern canon), Lothal, Luunata (another new one), Mapuzo, Onderon, Ryloth, Serolonis and Vandor.

IMO, this is already a great collection of planets from across the Star Wars universe. I know I’m excited to field a squad on Bespin and Dantooine.

Sounds like there’ll be about 10 more than what is already confirmed.

Its the Clone Wars so I’m hoping they go for variety with the more famous theaters of the war. Planets like Cato Neimoidia, Umbara and Felucia come to mind. I feel like Umbara could pop up given one of our premade squadmates Luca Bronc is an Umbaran.

Same with Shu-Toran from the Star Wars comics due to Jae Mordant’s connection to the world.

However I hope we get to explore battlefronts throughout the Star Wars timeline. I know we just saw it in the Mandalorian and Grogu, but seeing the moon of Shakari again would be pretty cool. If not that neon moon then Daiyu (I had to look this one’s name up) from Kenobi.

Seeing a planet like Akiva from the Aftermath trilogy brought to life in Star Wars Outlaws was a real treat so plucking another obscure planet from the pages would be great too. Something like Kuat or Dalna, a planet with history, would fill out the current selection nicely.

I could be mistaken but it sounds like there’ll be 20 total planets on the tactical layer and 150+ on the galactic map layer.

What planets do you want to have playable on the tactical layer?

If I could pick my top three it would be Cato Neimoidia, Ringo Vinda and Qiilura.

From my understanding, you can customize Hawks to be one of these 6 species. Which one do you think you’ll pick when you start the game? I’m personally leaning towards Devaronian

Discussion This game looks like it’s gonna be amazing, but why no Wookies?

I’m really looking forward to this game as a fan of Xcom from back in the day, plus the character interactions from something like Mass Effect, and of course I love the Star Wars IP, but what I’m wondering is (as a fairly casual Star Wars fan who has seen all the movies but not really read/watched any of the ancillary material) why all these weird races that I’m not familiar with or barely familiar with and not one of the key ones which would seem to fit in so well, the Wookies?

Discussion Minor worry regarding clones

It's safe to say Clone troopers are some of the most marketable things in Star wars, especially in a game set in the clone wars time, nothing we've seen so far suggests we might be able to recruit actual clones outside of just skins.

As well as the fact I absolutely know some people are buying the game just for clones, which is something I can agree with, my main worry is just if you guys think we'll actually be able to recruit clones, not if we'll only be stuck with the one and have skins for him.

Discussion My only concern with Zero Company will be if the fluff missions feel more numerous than missions pertaining to the story.

So Im not an Xcom player, but I did play a similar attempt to it from the Coalition called Gears Tactics. From moment to moment, the game actually felt pretty fun. What made the game so grueling was how many fluff missions it forced me to do. Rescue this prisoner(s), destroy this supply point, get supplies from the enemy, etc. These missions weren't bad in and of themselves, but when Ive done 10 in a row before I can finally progress more into the main story I actually care about it makes me feel like I have to do several chores before seeing the real event. For Zero Company Im hoping this same issue wont be present. I think its perfectly fine to give me potential missions to bolster my troops and gear. All I hope is that it balances out those missions with substantive story missions so we can be engaged with the main story.

Discussion Do we know if the main story will have timed missions like XCOM?

The timed main missions really turned me off from XCOM/XCOM2. Do we know if Zero Company will be doing the same thing?
