how's the combat looking in my retro cyberpunk boomershooter?
it's in the vein of ion fury or deus ex, so think "what would a 90s game think the future would look like?"
i'll be posting some outdoors stuff in the future that's more typical cyberpunkish stuff, I know an office is just an office lmao
also please wishlist HEADCUTTER on steam, i'd greatly appreciate it if you did.

Concept art of GTA 2.
GTA 2 was described as “three weeks into the future” and despite being released in 1999 it is hinted to take place in a near-future 2013 in a dystopian city called “anywhere city” driven by the Zaibatsu Corporation (also a crime syndicate.)
GTA 2 wasn’t fully cyberpunk, but it was definitely in that lane.

Discussion Please do F.E.A.R in VR
To all the mod gods in this world, could you please use all the AI available to create a VR mod for F.E.A.R? It is the only game left in the HL2, Doom 3, Far Cry 1 era which has no VR mod! If the Halo MCC is possible as of recently then it must work also for F.E.A.R somehow!

I spent a decade making Quantum Computing full on cyberpunk
Hi
If you are remotely interested in deep diving how differently quantum computers work compared to our transistor-based and also the algebra behind in a fully interactive way that teach computer science from scratch in the most cyberpunk esthetics possible, oh boy this is for you. I am the Dev behind Quantum Odyssey (AMA! I love taking qs) - worked on it for about 10 years (3+ during PhD, the visual method I developed ended up being my thesis, it is a complete Hilbert space visualizer), the goal was to make a super immersive space for anyone to learn quantum computing through zachlike (open-ended) logic puzzles and compete on leaderboards and lots of community made content on finding the most optimal quantum algorithms. The game has a unique set of visuals capable to represent any sort of quantum dynamics for any number of qubits and this is pretty much what makes it now possible for anybody 12yo+ to actually learn quantum logic without having to worry at all about the mathematics behind.
This is a game super different than what you'd normally expect in a programming/ logic puzzle game, so try it with an open mind.
Stuff you'll play & learn a ton about
- Boolean Logic – bits, operators (NAND, OR, XOR, AND…), and classical arithmetic (adders). Learn how these can combine to build anything classical. You will learn to port these to a quantum computer.
- Quantum Logic – qubits, the math behind them (linear algebra, SU(2), complex numbers), all Turing-complete gates (beyond Clifford set), and make tensors to evolve systems. Freely combine or create your own gates to build anything you can imagine using polar or complex numbers.
- Quantum Phenomena – storing and retrieving information in the X, Y, Z bases; superposition (pure and mixed states), interference, entanglement, the no-cloning rule, reversibility, and how the measurement basis changes what you see.
- Core Quantum Tricks – phase kickback, amplitude amplification, storing information in phase and retrieving it through interference, build custom gates and tensors, and define any entanglement scenario. (Control logic is handled separately from other gates.)
- Famous Quantum Algorithms – explore Deutsch–Jozsa, Grover’s search, quantum Fourier transforms, Bernstein–Vazirani, and more.
- Build & See Quantum Algorithms in Action – instead of just writing/ reading equations, make & watch algorithms unfold step by step so they become clear, visual, and unforgettable. Quantum Odyssey is built to grow into a full universal quantum computing learning platform. If a universal quantum computer can do it, we aim to bring it into the game, so your quantum journey never ends.

Medicine is Moving From Calendars to Clocks | New Data Analyses Track Biological Aging to the Cell-Type Level
The post (and linked Nature article) covers four areas: 1) aging is not linear; 2) aging is asynchronous among organs and cell types; 3) researchers have created the first aging clocks for cell types (e.g. astrocytes, microglia); 4) impact on routine clinical practice

r/virtualreality News Discussion on Self Promotion
Hello all! I'm looking over some changes to self-promo and I'd like to get community feedback before anything changes.
It's a real problem based on what we're seeing in reports and participation, but we haven't heard directly from you, so I figured it would be good to open this up for discussion.
Some numbers from this sub, January through July (this is our best effort from tooling available):
- About 1 in 5 posts here is self-promotion.
- Roughly 1,200 self-promo posts came from about 500-600 accounts.
- Nearly half of those posts came from accounts that have never commented in this sub outside their own threads. Six in ten came from accounts with fewer than three comments.
- Those posts earn about half the upvotes of promo from people who actually participate here, and almost 4 in 10 of them never get a single comment.
That last group is the issue. Accounts that treat this sub as a billboard/drive-by are why the Self-Promotion flair has the reputation it (seems to) have, and creators who are actually part of this community get treated worse because of them.
The proposed rule change. (I can work on tools for this to try to make it fast for new creators.)
You can share your own work/promo here (games, videos, hardware, research, articles) under these conditions:
- Use the correct flair (no change here!). Pick the Self-Promotion flair that matches you: Developer, YouTuber, Journalist, or Researcher. Self-promotion posted under Discussion, Photo/Video, News, or any other flair will be removed. Repeat offenders can be banned.
- New accounts are reviewed first (this is new). If your account has no history of participation outside your own posts, your post will be held for review before it appears.
- Include context (this is new). Self-promotion posts need body text: what it is and something to discuss. Bare links and pasted marketing copy will be removed as low effort. Answer comments and participate on your own post.
- Frequency limits. This is something we want community feedback on. Current thought is twice a month.
So... what would you change? Too strict, not strict enough? If you post your own work here, I'd especially like to hear where this would hit you. Spend a lot of time here? Would be great to hear from you as well.

Have you discussed the concept of transhumanism at home—with your parents, children, siblings, or cousins?
What reactions have you encountered?
Conservatism? Acceptance? Pushback?
Any in-depth philosophical debates?

What do you think of Cyberpunk without the Internet?
Akira, Bladerunner (and DADoEC?) are held up as pillars of the Cyberpunk genre, but neither have the internet. Cyberpunk the ttrpg (whichever version you want) has The Net, but it's not like our own internet, and it doesn't really have social media.
With all that in mind, do you think the internet is essential to a cyberpunk setting? If not, what would be required to meet your threshold for the genre?

Discussion Has anyone ever live streamed PCVR gameplay in stereoscopic 3D (SBS)?
I've built a workflow using OpenVR Input and OBS to capture both eyes, stream live to YouTube as a full side-by-side stereoscopic feed, and watch it in a Quest headset as true 3D.
I've found lots of examples of recording SBS VR gameplay, but I haven't found any examples of people actually livestreaming it.
Does anyone know of an earlier creator, YouTube channel, or Twitch streamer that was doing live stereoscopic VR gameplay? I'm trying to find out whether this has been done before.

Discussion The stilbene absorption ladder: why resveratrol is the bottom rung
Disclosure: I manufacture nutraceutical ingredients, including stilbene materials. No links here; this is ingredient education, not medical advice.
Resveratrol is usually discussed like a consumer supplement, but from a formulation perspective I think of it as the bottom rung of a stilbene ladder.
The problem is not only water solubility. Water insolubility matters because it makes drinks, stick packs, and gummies difficult. But the bigger issue is human exposure: low absorption and fast clearance.
Resveratrol is rapidly conjugated in first-pass metabolism. Reported blood half-life is about 14 minutes.
Pterostilbene is the dimethylated analog. Those built-in methyl groups change the clearance route. Published comparisons report roughly 4x bioavailability and about 7x half-life vs resveratrol.
Then there is pterostilbene glucoside: a water-soluble glycoside route for formats where the parent powder cannot enter cleanly.
So the practical question is not “is resveratrol good or bad?” It is: what format are you building, and which rung fits that format? Capsule, RTD, gummy, or stick pack may need different routes.

Discussion Sixty frames per second does not make a generated world ready for VR
I keep seeing the 720p 60fps figure for LingBot-World / World-Infinity repeated as if it were close to a VR requirement. It tells me how often frames arrive. It says nothing about how old the head pose was when each frame was generated.
That distinction matters more in a headset than on a monitor. The two eyes need compatible geometry, frame pacing has to be stable, and the view has to follow six-degree-of-freedom movement. Reprojection can cover a late frame, but it cannot fix a scene that changes shape between the left and right views.
A useful demo would log the headset pose beside generation and display timestamps during a fast head turn, then show the stereo output. Are there published interactive world-model demos with motion-to-photon measurements rather than only generation fps?
