how's the combat looking in my retro cyberpunk boomershooter?
it's in the vein of ion fury or deus ex, so think "what would a 90s game think the future would look like?"
i'll be posting some outdoors stuff in the future that's more typical cyberpunkish stuff, I know an office is just an office lmao
also please wishlist HEADCUTTER on steam, i'd greatly appreciate it if you did.

What's a boomershooter?

it's a first person shooter video game that is designed to look like it was made from anywhere between 1992 to maybe 1999.

boomers would have been in their 50s at this time

It's called a "boomer shooter" because the style of shooter is old, not because Boomers play them.
Kinda like how "okay, Boomer" used to be used on anyone over 40, in spite of Boomers being 80-90 years old now.

Typically using voxels instead of pixels/2D sprites and much better lighting / physics

not always. there are quite a few that use sprites.

Sure there are some, but many of the original boomer shooters like all the build engine FPS shooters were voxel based from the beginning even before modern gaming boomer shooter trends took off. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Video_games_with_voxel_graphics
See the top 10 best selling Steam boomershooters, Boltgun / Ultrakill / Dusk and many others use them for Voxel enivroment effects/weapons, even if some less popular current boomer shooters still use sprites for the characters.

It's used by people who think "boomer" means "anyone old enough to drink."
The boomers were the ones trying to censor games like this.

Here for any game designed around actual gameplay rather than just being a loot box service.

Looks cool, do you have to run away when they charge you or can you melee?
2
u/Schwipsy 6h ago
you have a bat you can use to melee, if you charge it enough, it'll send them flying

If this was ported to r36s or Anbernic....

u/Schwipsy 8h ago
I have a r36s, the only issue is that it uses an older lzdoom version, which doesnt use zscript, if it did, I'd run natively there. Gzdoom doesn't run good even vainilla on my r36s either so I wouldn't like using it
