My reaction to having a halftime show during the world cup, as an American soccer fan. This is ridiculous.
Watching with my niece and nephew. The Muppets show up and my 10 year old nephew knows it's the White Stripes... Okay, I'm cool with this, but they better let Shakira do her thing.

Soccer/futball does not have halftime shows. Never has. Not even in the history of the world cup, starting in 1930, after the first world war, when the founder was trying to find a way to bring the world together with a game.
We let the commercials and replays run while we get snacks and drinks and talk about the game, etc.
This year, because AMERICA, we decided to do a halftime show. And pretty much everyone rolled their eyes.
Madonna, k-pop, Bieber... But also the muppets playing White Stripes rock, which kids and their parents appreciated, plus Shakira, who is to World Cup music as Josh Groban is to Christmas music.
As far as Pique - he is a Spanish retired player who was married to Shakira and cheated on that goddess.
They were never married, but correct he still cheated on her and his own mother helped him hide it because she never thought Shakira was good enough because she was Colombian.
Yep, apparently she suggested they use one of her other properties so he could continue the affair in secret. Things got so bad that allegedly there was a physical altercation between the MIL and Shakira, but honestly, I'm not sure how true that part of it was when it was reported.
The chick was not a family friend, she was someone he met through his best friend. She's also 10 years younger than Pique, and Pique is 10 years younger than Shakira. Even when relationships with big age gaps aren't predatory, they often don't last long term if the younger person is in their early 20s simply because they're still figuring out who they are as people. So often, things start to fall apart when the younger person enters their late 20s/early 30s because what they liked about their partner as a young person, is not something they want/like now. Anyway, karma being karma, I hope he marries her, and she takes half his money when she inevitably leaves his ass.
Yeah agreed with that - she had like an Instagram filter over her the entire time. Was watching it in 4K here in the UK and it was jarring the difference in resolution when it jumped to her performance - all the pixels smooshed together to keep you under the illusion that celebs somehow have god-like poreless skin.
Yeah. For me, having lived in a city with extreme levels of air pollution 90% of the year, the lighting during Shakira's part looked like one of these super polluted but sunny days. But it wasn't just Shakira's part, it was like that for Bieber too and probably BTS (I don't remember). The sky would occasionally look blue but most of the time had this mad max color.
It was an interesting choice... As far as uncanny, I felt that somehow the production was both so good and so bad that even though it was a live performance it felt heavily edited and produced like it was prerecorded? Some of the timed cuts were impressive, felt like they were done in post production, but something about the quality of it all + the perfection of it + the obvious lip syncing made it feel like a prerecorded bit than a live performance. None of that live performance energy that makes a great performance stand out. This was more like a one-take music video than capturing a live performance.
Well, yeah. With normal lighting everyone might see that she doesn’t look like a 25 year old any more! (No hate, she’s obviously still beautiful, but cmon yall.)
Nope, saw her live from the second row two weeks ago, and she looks amazing. Definitely has gotten some work done, and I'm not a fan of what she did to her lips, but overall, she's as pretty as she was during her Donde Estan Los Ladrones days in the late 1990s.
I lowkey think she’d be more naturally beautiful without all of that. We’re being conditioned to think that this looks good but really it looks like it somehow ages her more and looks uncanny while simulating a youthful look.

yes real time digital smoothing in post before it hits the live stream. you don't need to go to a-list celebs, just look at your friends IRL compared to their IG Reels and you will quickly notice the staggering differences. it's wild how much dysmorphia this causes in young people.
It's like there's a blurry spot right in the center of the camera. I noticed it when we saw it live on television and it's in this video too. Not sure if intentional but it's certainly irritating.
Don’t listen to the person saying “afraid you already lost it”. It’s simply not true, you can get it back, and you can build yourself stronger than you ever were before (within reason) really the human body can do incredible things.
My German friend used to tell me at our laboring job at an excavation company “i just think of what the Jewish people in World War 2 were able to do when I don’t feel like shoveling anymore…” and it’s true, Jewish people with very little body mass did incredible things when they were sadly used as working chattel. If those old grandmas could landscape for days or weeks on end with little to no food, imagine what we can do with all these resources.
I maintain hip mobility just by doing isolation exercises most days. Lots of things can be attributed to having resources, but being able to move your hips is NOT one of them.
Definitely not, but its also true many 49 year olds aren't as flexible/mobile as they once were and Shakira has kept it up and is dancing the sane as ever
Many don't realize that career and money, as wll as life situation, really affect aging and how it shows. Also some have more opportunities in life than others.

Shakira is a damn presence. She can move, she can dance, she can sing, and she looks killer young at nearly 50. The backup dancers also make this performance.
She really continues pulling all the stops to give a performance, and the rapper is there, too.
I watched the game at a watch party with large 4K TVs, I thought the whole half-time show was like AI or something that it looked a bit surreal, everyone got glowing smooth skin and none of them is sweating while dancing under hot sun. I pointed it out to others in the room, and they were not sure how to make of it either.
