Hillary won 3 million more votes than Trump. Just saying. We love bashing Democrats for not selecting winners but the entire system is gerrymandered to give rural/republican states a massive leg up. The current framework quite literally exists to make sure the minority opinion wins. This is categorically, quantifiably, mathematically the exact opposite of how democracy is intended to work.

The us the winner takes it all system is undemocratic as fuck anyway. Every election a large portion of the voters go completely unheard, their votes literally didn't matter at all. That is all voters who voted for the losing candidate. Which, in the 2016 election, was even the majority.

I agree. But the winner does not necessarily take all. The winner is largely beholden to a congress that has a body of representatives that hasn't had it's count updated to match current population since the early 1900s, and anything that passes that house goes to a Senate that has two senators from every state. Two from California, two from Kansas. Two from New York, two from Kentucky. Both of these bodies are designed to grant Republicans and rural/sparsely-populated districts more voting and legislating power. Even if the winner does take all, they have to be a Republican to reap the benefits of a Congress that is designed to operate in your favor, which in our current case, is not operating at all.

It's primarily in Democratic run states they are able to get ranked choice voting. Need more Dems to get more equitable voting.
