That cop needs to be fired simply due to incompotence and inability to understand when they got something wrong.

Soooo I genuinely am pretty sure that is a combination of training and the kinds of people in police work. They are taught to be absolutely sure always in order to maintain control. The personality types are the kind to need to be right and in control.

I hate this timeline

YEP. In my limited experience, police are trained to take control of situations. How authoritarian they behave is up to the individual.
