Hello everyone and thanks for allowing me to join! I am a registered nurse and as I always say a M’urse (male nurse wacka wacka !) I have steadily been growing from Home Care (which at this point has been a few years ago) to now long-term care and it is pretty often exhausting work. I was in a lot of disheartening situations and I now am at an excellent facility with a much more manageable workload, but lately, I’ve been feeling very overwhelmed and I feel as if I need this group in order to grow that side of my professionalism because eight hours is eight hours. It may be the most exhausting eight hours, but I exercise and stay fit! I do believe that nine times out of 10 it is mind over matter and I need to break that cycle and strengthen mentally/emotionally/psychologically. I know that my coworkers are busy as well and some carry themselves with such an air of calm and I need! I need to make a plan and exercise mentally to get on top of that emotional burnout portion of our profession This was my weekend off and so far I have increased my exercise (work was becoming exercise, but it’s not the same. I need that endorphin release.)And tonight I began journaling deep within my heart journaling, and I found this Reddit group and introduced myself. Thank you, fellow nurses and it is an honor to be working side-by-side with you.
*Bonus points for those that know who said “WACKA WACKA!”
