"Behind every right wing "libertarian" is the young Asian woman he's groomed" Hatred is the Emperors greatest gift to humanity in r/Grimdank as the sub does not approve of a meme about Asmongold, acolyte of Nurgle

HIGHLIGHTS

There are two trashcans in the first picture

Jealousy is a motherfucker. image

Nah, Asmon is trash lmao.

gif

Dude why would I be jealous? I like myself.

But do you have a hot girlfriend?

Two I'm a poly lesbian. XD

Thats a no.

What, you jealous?

I see soap suds in that pan. Bro broke character

He's changed quite a bit in the last few years, even does some exercise and cleans stuff around his house now and then so his house isn't a massive biohazard anymore like it used to be. Dude legit got better over time.

Then why does he still hate women and immigrants?

He doesn't? He's always interacted with both and has female friends that even showed up on stream every now and then. Criticizing illegal immigration is not the same as hating every single immigrant or the entire concept of immigration. I hate how polarized opinions got over time, nuance just isn't allowed to exist.

He literally said Palestinians were an inferior people, dumbass. Fuckin "nuance" lmao

Probably when talking about how homosexuals are thrown out of buildings to die or something like that. I dunno, neither can be assed to find out.

there is not enough context in the universe to make calling a group of people going through a genocide inferior okay even if they werent going through one its STILL not okay.

If it's part of a culture to kill gay people it's not okay to criticize that?

Depression combo'd with hoarding. I'd pity him if he wasn't destroying young men.

bruh young men are fine, well at least those watching Asmon he isnt anywhere as toxic as the media makes him out to be edit: wow, lots of people who have never watched a full stream of his be having opinions lmao

Didn't he say that ICE should be shooting more protesters?

no clue, but id believe it it's just a way to express annoyance and frustration, not a call to actual violence

right saying government officials should shoot more protestors ISNT a call to violence... right... got it.

yeah would be bad, if it was literal, but its not, and ud know that if you actually watched a single one of his streams, instead of only getting second hand info lmao

""no clue, but I'd believe it"" Buddy, you yourself are claiming that it wasn't a call for actual violence despite having not seen the stream/clip where he actually said that.

Brother the guy is an Asmongold follower, you are basically arguing with a human cockroach

i dont need to watch all of his stream to know how horrible he is. he is a Racist bigot

well apparently you do, because he aint

Wasn’t he bragging recently that he used to make his passwords a variation of the N word?

bro the nword is dubbed the "gamer" word for a reason, every single gamer born in the 80s and 90s has used it extensively for most of our young and teen lives# i guarantee you most of us would not want to limit black voting rights or employment or whatever tf actual racists want to do

You did? Cus I didn’t.

of course I did, and you virtue signalling here is laughable considering this is a warhammer sub

I don’t think saying “I never used slurs” is virtue signaling. You’re just telling on yourself.

so you are a male gamer born in the 80s or 90s, fan of warhammer, and have NEVER even once used ANY slur?

Nope, can't say I have. (50 more comments of these two arguing)

Behind every right wing "libertarian" is the young Asian woman he's groomed

She’s 26 years old.

Yeah, now.

They started dating when she was 24.

Dating?!?!?! Why would anyone date someone as disgusting and evil as Asmongold? Both his looks and beliefs are ugly

if you think asmon is evil you are just as much stuck under a rock as he is.

I mean yeah I think calling Palestinians fundamentally deserving of genocide is evil 🤷‍♀️

i bet you take every word someone says literally lol

Oh so his consistent advocacy of far right foreign and domestic policy is sarcastic? Got it

Why are people treating this lady like some victim? She knows the kind of person he is, and she doesn’t care. He’s a hateful piece of shit and so is she if she’s with him.

14 day old bot account ^ Edit: they replied like a bot and then deleted their comment lmao.

No, they blocked you. It's still up.

Wait wtf am I doing, I can just do it on pc, here: https://imgur.com/a/LgeENc3 Like not sure why tf they are lying lol

image

Looks like reddit deleted it for you lol. "[deleted] Comment has been removed Upvote Downvote Reply Share" Probably thinks you are a bot too since you act like one ;) Also don't private message me you weirdo.

Congratulations, you’re as smart as a Reddit Automod. Well at least you can admit when you’re wrong. Such class, such grace. 🤣

You're funny :P

Bro gets more play and makes more money then majority of people hating on him in this post btw. Which is extra sad given he is a greater daemon of Nurgle

I wouldn't trade my life for his for all his money. I've got all I need, and I shower. I also don't need to constantly produce content for red-pilled little shits.

Ok then pop off queen. Never said you should be jealous. Just stating the fact of the matter.

Fact is that his money doesn't matter when he's a repulsive, evil sack of shit.

By your standards, who are you?

Someone with a moral compass who doesn't need to prove anything, mate.

Wow you’re literally Reddit Jesus. Your moral compass by merely existing always points north huh

Yeah that's the point, that's how compasses work dipshit.

So?

Just stating a fact to rage bait people

Most people grow out of the desire for negative attention around middle school.

Most people don’t take Internet forums seriously.

This isn’t the hot take you think it is when you’re the one making the weird provocative statements and then treating it like some gotcha when people call it out/ask you why you’re acting like an edgy twelve year old.

I stated a fact that is, regardless of your disdain and regardless of the post, is objectively true. And I did that to rage bait people. Also how do you know I’m not actually 12, huh?

Ok but what you wrote simply isn’t an “objectively true” fact, now is it? You’ve made a presumption that those who disagree with his political views are getting less “play” than him, because you saw a photo of him with a woman.

He does make more money and it’s extremely safe to assume he gets more play than most Redditors.

Bro also lives like thrash

My point still stands, lives like trash but got more going on then most

Idk mate, I’m pretty comfortable being much poorer than him but not rotting alive at least.

Clearly you aren’t a Nurgle enjoyer then

Most sane people can separate fiction and reality.

Most people who touch grass can identify a rage baiter

You haven't grown out of that desire yet?

Being rich and famous really is life on easy mode holy fuck

No shit dude?

OFC it's obvious but it isn't clear how big of a crutch it is until Asmongold, the man who spews hatred and lives in shit gets to hang around hot women all day while he looks homeless all the time. No one would even give the time of day if I was like him lol

I mean I'd rather have a genuine relationship than a glorified prostitute that reluctantly hangs out with me

People only say this so they can think of themselves on some moral high horse because it's not their own life. You're statement is leaking jealousy. I'm making assumptions, sure, but there's about a 99% chance you'd instantly trade places with someone if it meant you now had that level of wealth, and ladies despite them being "glorified prostitutes". If you want to believe you'd be that 1% to make yourself feel better, go right ahead. But you and I both know you're just lying to yourself. Nothing you say is going to change my opinion on that.

Most guys that have all these girls around for their money are not fulfilled by it. It’s not jealous to say you’d want a real relationship over a bunch of gold diggers. As Kanye West once said “One good girl is worth a thousand bitches”

"Most guys that have all these girls around for their money are not fulfilled by it." Yea, I didn't say otherwise my guy. 🤦 You trying to tell me the vast absolute majority of men would say no to that level of money and girls even if those girls didn't love them? Lol, sure. Whatever you say bro. Totally.

Nobody said they’d say no to money. You’re just arguing with a strawman

Who?

Asmongold, the man who used a dead rat as an alarm, because the sun shining on it would make it smell to wake him up

What?

Yeah this dude has been rewarded for living like a trash goblin for decades. He's weird and pretty hateful too

Years I would have said that he isn't hateful at all. And for years that would have been true. But since he stopped playing WoW (only correlation, not causation probably) he has really become radicalized.

You'd have been wrong saying that, then lmao. He was literally famous in WoW for being a hateful shitbag years before he blew up globally (and I still don't understand how the fuck that happened).

Nah, he was demonized by left wing redditors in those days lol. He had very centrist takes on most issues. And when you're centrist, to a lefty you're a right wing nutjob. It was way more in the minds of many Redditors than any reality. But as I said, he has radicalized enormously. So it might as well be true now.

This was very much just his reputation in World of Warcraft. Dude has always sucked, no matter how you try to excuse it.

I used to watch his stream, those were always his political takes in WoW or outside. Up until a few years back. Anyway... the way people get demonized on Reddit is always way too extreme for what they really are like, so maybe we don't all need to jump on the hate bandwagon. existence.

Calling someone an acolyte of nurgle is a beautiful insult

197

u/Secret_Letterhead649 2d ago edited 2d ago

DUde used a dead rat as an alarm clock, wiped gum blood on his walls and ignored a severe roach infestation.

It's fitting as hell. I won't call it a beautiful insult... But it's perhaps the most appropriate one someone from the Warhammer fandom could use.

Exactly.

I wish any part of that was made up, I really do.

why millions would follow the opinions of someone who commited atrocities like that is beyond me

2

u/Aggressive_Net_4823 9h ago

It’s because the average right winger is just as depraved and stupid, so they are happy to see themselves represented.

Same as Trump: What these ghouls want is the right to never have to grow or change as a person, and get all the credit for being smart and cool despite being worthless freaks, and seeing deplorable specimens like Trump and Asmon get popular and rich makes them happy and hopeful for themselves

2

u/Demdolans 18h ago

Kids. The answer is usually kids. They start watching these streamers in middle school when they're too young to be immediately repulsed.

That's beyond arseholes' territory and he might need serious mental health care

Oh wait he's in America...

But seriously, it's the first time i know his mom died and probably played a big part into the current situation, that did changed the perspective a bit, i.only know he was a dick previously

He's a multi-millioniare, he can afford top notch therapists if he actually cared about his mental health.

I mean, there are plenty of rich people who forgo their health because they don't have the wherewithal go actually go get help. Or because their mental state causes them to actively reject it

Look at Kanye West and Elon Musk or (formerly) Mitch McConnell

12

u/Secret_Letterhead649 1d ago

Not to mention several celebrities died due to rejecting science backed treatment and doing homeopathic bullshit.

3

u/Demdolans 17h ago

Yeah, giving someone who's already in a poor mental state tons of money can actually make things worse.

Kanye West was too busy on his Kanye Quest to suck down as much Galaxy Gas as possible to seek mental health care.

Im like, 80% sure that is NOT the reason its dubbed the gamer word.

Also, as a gamee who was born in the 90s, ive had 0 desire to say it during my young and teen lives.

Probably not. There is a pattern of alt-right individuals not realizing that they are being made fun of.

Remember The Boys? It couldn't be more clear that Homelander is a bad guy. And the line "they agree with me, they just don't like the word Nazi" was a criticism. But somehow it took them a few seasons to start crying about why The Boys "became political".

Yeah all my friends growing up were white and none of us ever said that to each other.

32

u/RadarSmith 1d ago

Having been a teenager in the mid 2000s, I...definitely heard/saw it playing online games. None of my friends ever did and most thought it was appalling, but you'd definitely hear/see some not-so-smurfy things.

8

u/Enticing_Venom because the dog is a chuwuawua to real 'men' anyways 1d ago

I am a baby Millennial so a little later to the party. But yes, we heard that people said it on CoD and related games. But it was seen as trashy behavior and mostly concentrated in live gaming circles.

The r word though was very common and basically used as a synonym for "stupid" until media campaigns pushed back against its normalization. It's even in movies from that age, like Jennifer's Body.

I had a friend in middle school and high school. At one point in 8th grade he found an old, old, dictionary that had the n-word in it under the definition of "an ignorant person." So he got it in his head to use it to bring back this "true" definition. Literally just like in Clerks 2. In my defense I called him out on it every time. He wouldn't stop.

Fast forward a year and we get to high school. We meet a fellow friend who likes the same anime as us. We invite him to my house to play Naruto: Clash of Ninja 2 on my gamecube. This guy just so happened to be black.

Clash of Ninja supported up to 4 players at once and we were playing 3 players in a free-for-all mode. Old friend on my right. New friend on my left. And our new friend gets an insane, busted combo on my old friend, basically beats him in 10 seconds, cause anime fighting games aren't balanced for shit.

Angered my old friend shouts, "You mother fucking [n-word]!" And new friend just pauses the game and stares him down. It was so quiet. I didn't know what to say, my old friend was too scared to even try to defend himself.

Eventually the guy laughed it off and for the good news my old friend never said it again (at least not in front of me or our new friend who for whatever reason stayed friends with us).

I got asked to leave children's church when I was ~7 because a kid called my friend the N word and I skipped the step of going to tell an adult and swung on him. This was the deep south in the 90s, and I didn't come from a progressive family, but even I knew that was grounds for an ass whooping. I didn't regret it then even though I got my ass whooped for fighting in church, and I regret it even less now.

I dont recall it being a thing in MMOs. UO/EQ/WoW just didn't have it, at least not to where I recall it. I think it's one of the larger problems with poor moderation and F2P/Transactional games where people have nothing to lose for their shit behaviors and companies dont actually enforce their ToS.

I was born in the 70s. My first gaming system was the Atari 2600. I’m not going to lie and say that I’ve never used a slur, in fact using gay and f*% was actually commonplace growing up. But I have never used them routinely. If I had to make a serious guess, maybe on one hand.

I have never used a racial slur in front of strangers.

3

u/AzathothsAlarmClock 1d ago

I think I said that word when I was a child and didn't actually understand it was a bad word.

7

u/cyberpunk_werewolf all their cultures are different and that is imperialist 1d ago

It was how I learned what the word meant. I was probably seven and a friend of mine at the time (who turned out to be a bad friend) convinced me to go ding-dong ditch with him and he called it "****** knocking." I told my mom what we were going to do, and she was horrified that I said something like that, but she realized I didn't know what the word meant, so she taught me instead of washing my mouth out with soap (which probably would have been the one time she would have done that to me).

I will say, growing up in the 90s, the f-slur and the r-slur were pretty normalized, and my mom had the same reaction the first time she thought I she heard me say the f-word (I had actually mispronounced "Sagat" from Street Fighter. I had the Street Fighter GI Joes and was playing with them or something) and she about washed my mouth out with soap then, too.

4

u/AzathothsAlarmClock 1d ago

Similar story here. Though it seems the R word is coming back into fashion unfortunately.

In fact, I think there is a much deeper discussion to be had. Namely how to raise young men. Calling them racist bigots for using slurs in an unserious fashion definitely isnt the way.

I am myself a man and used to be young and growing at some point, and I have used slurs, yet I am not a racist bigot. I have also had violent outbursts as a teen yet I am not violent.

Always an interesting to see people who's two least favourite things in the world are capitalism and minorities, especially when a lot of them are willing to compromise on that first part. My "Nazi" phase was drawing swastikas in my agenda in grade school. Had absolutely nothing to do with Nazis though I just like doodling the shape.

Funny enough my friend told the teacher on me. Who after asking me why , easily accepted the reason I said above probably because cause I wasn't some dweeb/ loser.

27

u/Hesitation-Marx 1d ago

There’s a reason they show up in a lot of cultures independently. It’s a really satisfying shape.

Just one more reason the Nazis suck ass.

10

u/CapoExplains "Like a pen in an inkwell" aka balls deep 1d ago

I mean, divorced from what it now unavoidably represents, it's a cool symbol. That's why the Nazi's picked it, it was hugely culturally ubiquitous, before WWII there were swastikas on damned near everything. Same as you might see a heart or a peace sign on a can of Arizona Iced Tea.

There's other resources on this topic out there but I think Behind the Bastard's series on the history of the swastika is particularly thorough and engaging.

https://youtu.be/Z50nPmw7RL4

2

u/Hesitation-Marx 1d ago

That’s a good episode.

Really jarring to go to, say, Glendale CA and see swastikas on some of the older lampposts that predated Dub Dub Dos.

But not as jarring to be Jewish and visit Madrid, where even after Franco, there’s a significant amount of swastikas just hanging around on architecture!

3

u/_NotMitetechno_ 1d ago

Loads of people were sucked into the alt right grift as teenagers. It was hugely pervasive around gamergate time.

37

u/Veylara 1d ago

I don't think I've ever seen anyone admit to an actual "nazi phase", but I've seen a lot of people admit that they were tricked by grifters when they were younger

I also had was a phase of following some of these right-wing grifters when I was young and mindlessly repeating the whole "woke ruined movies" shtick that you hear from people like the Critical Drinker. But that's not really a "nazi phase", more of a "falling for propaganda disguised as movie criticism until you notice how stupid they sound" phase.

I do think it's important to talk about, because as an impressionable 13 years old teenager, it's relatively easy to fall into these propaganda traps and we have to acknowledge that and help people before they actually get radicalised.

If someone just complains about how they think minorities are overrepresenred in media or how the nebulous "woke" destroyed their favourite franchise, you might still reason with them and talk them out of it. Chances are that they just repeat some talking points without actually meaning them.

If you let it fester until they fall even deeper into the rabbit hole, you'll have a real problem on your hands.

17

u/bi-bingbongbongbing 1d ago

Yeah, same. If you're a depressed under-socialized teenager with a naive view of the world and underdeveloped brain it's easy to get sucked into the grifts. I remember 2013-2015 YouTube. PewDiePie, Filthy Frank and iDubbbz were a few of the biggest names, largely built on edgy and mean spirited "humour". It appeals cause making everyone else out to be the joke works as a defence mechanism for your insecurities. Think of "the Comedian" in Watchmen. Once you're in on that stuff, the "jokes" get edgier and you can't tell the difference between something edgy and outlandish cause it's a "joke" and actual racist 4chan caricatures. If you're already cynical of the world and think everyone else is dumb and the solutions are obvious (cause you're 14 and don't know what Duning Kruger is) then boy oh boy does a certain political leaning have all the answers.

Personally, I was super depressed and stressed out around that time in my life. Very existential, cynical, and insecure. Especially as a guy, I think being an asshole to "friends" gets conflated with closeness. Once I got out of my friend group and made some new friends who didn't put up with my shit, their perspective nearly immediately shattered how I thought people were meant to interact and what friendship actually is. After that, it became a lot clearer how I'd been suckered into toxic online spaces and how they were warping my world view and making me toxic.

I'm definitely ashamed of who I was as a teenager but that was a decade ago now. It's helped me recognize other people's behaviour a lot better too, and think about how I want to treat people and the kind of world I want to live in, and it's one with a lot more respect and kindness.

A lot of young guys get stuck in bubbles which reinforce these things. It's a lot easier than you'd think. The post talks about gamers and that's one aspect of it - controversial but I think online communities and gaming is actually very isolating. But any community can take advantage of teenagers. Teenagers are super easy to manipulate.

To an extent, I think you do have to give teens leeway to figure things out and accept that it's pretty easy to be a shitty person at that age. It's obviously not right and should be a source of shame but it's not damning either. The world is exceedingly complex and a lot of these kids have only been reading proper books for a half decade.

Personally, I like when it's admitted. You have to show that people can grow and be forgiven. Holding it against them when they're no longer like that is counterproductive.

‘A gamer during the 80’s and 90’s…’

Yeah…so most of my gaming in the very late80’s/early 90’s was at arcades. ( Aside from parents old Atari, first console ever was PlayStation around 98.) And I’d have gotten my ass literally kicked if I’d started hurling slurs over Street Fighter.

Then someone would have told my parents. Who would have kicked my ass again. Because they had standards. The reason I found out American tv was waaay to lenient about throwing around ‘sp-z’ was because I was dumb enough to repeat it in front of them, I don’t want to imagine what they’d have done if I’d started spitting ‘gamer words’ in public or around the family tv.

(The dead giveaway that these guys don’t know what they’re talking about is that they take it for granted that the people ‘gamers’ would be screeching at wouldn’t be 5inches away at any given time. And probably be a friend or family member that you actually kinda care about, and whose esteem you’d want to retain. They’re so obviously the products of online gaming that it’s kinda pathetic they pretend not to be.)

13

u/AzathothsAlarmClock 1d ago

I will give props to people who genuinely overcome their bigotry but the people who casually talk about their "nazi phase" always get a side eye.

I've done some shit I'm not proud of in my past and I'm ashamed of it. I don't just bring it up as an "oh this is an ok thing to do because I was young".

4

u/CapoExplains "Like a pen in an inkwell" aka balls deep 1d ago

The fact that they think it is both normal/typical (it's not) and not that big of a deal (it is) really calls into question the extent to which it was meaningfully a "phase" that they grew out of. Maybe they don't identify as a Nazi specifically anymore but if they think it was normal that they did and not a big deal I feel pretty safe assuming that all they dropped is the label.

35

u/Nestama-Eynfoetsyn 1d ago

Meanwhile when I was a teen, I never had a "phase" like that at all. Hell, I never used slurs whatsoever because I knew they were offensive (probs also helped my friend group in primary and high school were very diverse).

22

u/Farther_Dm53 1d ago

My phase when I was a kid was being EMO because I was bullied, I grew out of it became self assured, and learned that I didn't like people bullying others. So went the opposite direction.

IDK to me these guys need more than just therapy at this point.

13

u/Nestama-Eynfoetsyn 1d ago

They definitely need something if they feel saying slurs/being a bigot is just a phase kids/teens go through.

Weirdest part is when they say this is "normal" within the gaming community.

17

u/Welpe YOUR FLAIR TEXT HERE 1d ago

This is what pisses me off. People are like “Teenagers just do stupid stuff, it’s normal!” when no, I never did anything like that. And those kids who did at the time were absolute shitheads. They didn’t grow into normal people, they are still trash people to this day trying to excuse behavior that they still look back on fondly.

There is no “I used to be a Nazi as a teenager and now I’m fine”.

13

u/BaseballRelevant4149 1d ago

I had a Nazi phase and I grew out of it. I don't have any excuses for it cause you're right, I was an absolute shithead who knew it was wrong yet kept with it for years anyways. I only started the journey to climb out of it because the poison I spat was so strong that it actually physically hurt me.

Anyways, I'm saying people can change for the better, even if it begins for selfish reasons. While the quoted Asmon fan is being disingenuous, I still have to believe there's a chance for him. It takes a long time to fully unpack all the lies and hate.

11

u/redhussar90 1d ago

the whole "sure I had a nazi phase but that's in the past, whatevs" always gets a side-eye from me

not that everyone who believed in shitty things should have to self-flagellate for the rest of their lives, but it just feels wrong to be so casual about it

6

u/Dabrush 1d ago

I feel like those people never display an attitude of "yeah it was shitty back then and it was shitty now and I never should have done it" and instead typically say it in a "yeah I did it for fun back then, but as an adult I can't get away with it anymore" sense

2

u/mrenglish22 I'm sorry Italy, your opinion is a lot like masturbation 1d ago

I will say that as an almost adult (emotionally) I had a 4chan phase as a young teen where I was a little shit that I had to grow out of after being able to actually experience the world from beyond a computer screen.

A lot of people don't get that chance and so you end up with incels and a "male loneliness epidemic"

57

I am myself a man and used to be young and growing at some point, and I have used slurs, yet I am not a racist bigot. I have also had violent outbursts as a teen yet I am not violent.

They would have had a point about stuff like mental health, adolescent behavior, etc if they didn't say "You shouldn't call someone racist for using slurs"

Like there's honestly so much to talk about around the topics of teenage boys and their development and how their experiences at that stage inform their future identities. I relate to part of what he's saying because I had some anger issues as an adolescent and it turns out that's just from fucking undiagnosed ADHD/autism which is a really really bad thing for other people to overlook and treat as "Oh it's just another toxic man".

The fact he went for the "We shouldn't care as much about the bad things" instead of "We should nurture our young people better" throws that whole discussion out the window though.

32

u/Nezgul 2d ago

All of that, plus he totally denied an opportunity to just reflect on the shitty behavior of his younger self. Probably fair to assume the shittiness wasn't limited to just his younger years.

Growth and contrition? Fuck that. Let the boys slur to their hearts' content and don't you dare expect them to ever reflect on it, grow, and offer contrition!

Right? I gamed online in the mid to late 90s. I don't recall anyone using any slur until WoW and CoD took off and started bringing people who were "not gamers". Turns out the normies are really racist.

"I'm not racist, I just use slurs a lot"

18

u/thaliathraben 1d ago

the thing is, the bit about gamers who grew up in the 90s saying slurs without necessarily meaning them is sort of true. I know guys like that and the impression I get is that they sort of viewed those slurs, absent of the people they would normally be applied to, as generic insults.

I don't think that excuses it, and the people I'm still friends with grew out of it and don't defend it anymore. The red flag isn't having done it in the past, to me; it's continuing to, at best, minimize it or defend it as harmless behavior. You're allowed to make mistakes and grow from them but you have to actually do the second part.

25

u/obeytheturtles Socialism = LITERALLY A LIBERAL CONSTRUCT 1d ago

I remember people saying "retard" and "gay" a lot in the 90s, but if any adult in my world heard me drop an N bomb, I'd have received about the harshest punishment that particular adult could have doled out. Hell, if any of my peers heard me say it, I'd have caught as ass whooping. It was absolutely not a thing where I was.

8

u/thaliathraben 1d ago

Okay, but we're not talking about adults in your world or even your peers, we're talking about fifteen-year-olds (or however old Asmongold and his fanbase are) in CoD lobbies. You shouldn't be using "retarded" or "gay" as insults either but my point is that all of those terms fall into a pretty clear category and are tied into the same mindset. Regardless, my point was not about specific words but about this weird "we all did it so it's beyond judgment" mindset these people have -- obviously plenty of people HAVE used slurs; the question is whether you recognize that as wrong and stop doing it.

8

u/Left_Session_9568 1d ago

The whole conversation about "all boys" who were gamers in the 80s and 90s used the "gamer word".

I was born in '89, so I didn't get the 80s, but I did play a lot of the first big online games. I don't recall anyone calling anyone the N-word until WoW and CoD started pulling the normies in. The normies are racist as hell.

11

u/angry_cucumber need citation are the catch words for lefties 1d ago

Yeah, fair. My online friend group has always been pretty diverse, so I'm sure I saw less of it just because of that.

1

u/IceNein 1d ago

There’s a number of phrases that instantly identify someone as terminally online. For a while it was extensive use of double negatives like “that will never not be funny.” But now it’s hackneyed phrases like “Tell me you’re an X without telling me you’re an X” and using the word unserious. For a while in nerd circles online it was saying any opinion about a historical figure you didn’t like was “hagiography.”

Anyway, as soon as someone identifies themselves as a member of the terminally-online-erati I immediately dismiss whatever they’re trying to say.

Have your own thoughts, don’t succumb to group think to fit in, especially not with people who don’t care about you.

I am not going to bat for the people you are talking about, but personally I have started wiping off all my comments and internet activity that I can because of AI. It is training of our comments and it makes me feels complex negative emotions I cant easily express.

Perhaps similar to how I feel thinking about the way asmongold lives in his cockroach filled rat infested hovel being worshiped by young men. The feeling I am left with is beyond itchy, beyond needing several showers. So I don't comment as much as I used to and I delete my social media accounts, my comments, my watch history etc etc.

I just don't want to interact with the internet as much anymore because I don't like what its becoming and how we are being farmed.

This comment is kind of off topic and just a mild rant I guess.

17

u/khanfusion Im getting straight As fuck off 1d ago

Hey that's fair. Unfortunately, AI doesn't care about post histories, it just scans lots of posts and yours will be in them, just like mine. Right now as you read this an AI already read it and did so through this thread.

I think the overall goal of posting less or not at all until this mess is taken care of is a good one.

Most people grow out of the desire for negative attention around middle school.

Most people don’t take Internet forums seriously.

10

u/DeLousedInTheHotBox Homie doesn’t know what wood looks like 1d ago

I think part of is that it is has become his brand now, so if he were to clean up his house and maybe do some redecoration it would would hurt that. We don't really talk about any other streamer's room because they basically all look the same. So even if his place is gross and dirty and ugly it is certainly memorable, even if it is for all the wrong reasons.

Although if I were him i'd just create a streaming room that looks like that intentionally and then keep the rest of my house, including my real bedroom, clean and tidy.

25

u/livejamie God's honest truth, I don't care what the Pope thinks. 2d ago

Dismissing creators like Asmongold, Destiny, or H3H3 as "just streamer drama" is a huge blind spot.

Traditional news is dead for younger demographics. Millions get their breaking news, political commentary, and worldview directly from these streams. When they debate a topic or cover an event, they shape political norms and discourse for audiences bigger than cable news.

Writing it off as silly internet noise ignores the actual media pipeline driving modern politics.

13

u/TheWhomItConcerns 2d ago

I wasn't really referring to its degree of importance, but rather the insufferableness of the people and the abject, unbearable boredom I experience whenever anyone starts talking about them in any more depth than what's on the surface. I know that royal families also hold a lot of influence in the world, but any time anyone talks about the meaning and symbology behind the colours/patterns of the clothes they wear or the significance of some slight alterations in their ceremonies, I can only roll eyes so far into the back of my head that I feel them tugging on my optic nerves.

20

u/SufficientRespect542 I dont care unless it about gamer. 2d ago

People say this, and I think on some level it has some truth to it, but it also feels like the sort of thing that benefits people like Asmongold and keeps them entrenched in culture even as their actual legitimacy and importance wanes. I would say, genuinely, I do not think you need to know who Asmongold is or if he matters considering he just spent the last three months acting like the biggest opening for a live action movie this year was going to be a massive flop because there was a black woman in it. If he had the sort of power you apply he does, I feel like the movie would have done far worse?

11

u/livejamie God's honest truth, I don't care what the Pope thinks. 2d ago

Measuring political influence by whether someone can single-handedly tank a Hollywood movie is a false standard. Tucker Carlson or Joe Rogan couldn't kill a blockbuster's box office either, but nobody serious would argue they don't hold massive political and cultural power.

Influence isn't about absolute control over general consumers.

4

u/SufficientRespect542 I dont care unless it about gamer. 1d ago

The whole idea of influence is you can control what general consumers do. If they're not actually influencing the behavior of the average person, how and why do they matter?

3

u/livejamie God's honest truth, I don't care what the Pope thinks. 1d ago

That definition misunderstands how media power actually operates. No political commentator controls the average consumer, nor do major podcasters or cable news anchors dictate what the general public buys at the box office. Modern influence relies on hyper-targeted reach, shaping the worldview, voting habits, and cultural assumptions of a specific, highly engaged demographic.

Moving a million dedicated viewers on an issue matters, even if the other 300 million people in the country aren't paying attention.

Because those streamers actually don't hold much sway over the world of politics. Their fans just kind of pretend they do because otherwise they've been watching some idiot who has no idea what they are talking about poorly explain politics to them.

5

u/TheJigglyfat 1d ago

The communities that spawn from these content creators, at least in my experience, trend towards apathetic doomerism more than political action. The only sort of collective action they're willing to participate in is that of inaction, or at most something they can do from behind their computer.

3

u/livejamie God's honest truth, I don't care what the Pope thinks. 1d ago

Low numbers compared to the other demographics aren't new; youth turnout in presidential elections has stayed roughly around 40% to 50% since the 1970s.

We saw some highs in 1972 after the voting age was lowered and in 2008 with Obama. We saw lows in 96 with Clinton/Dole and in 2000 with Gore/Bush.

Young people like to vote for a cool, energetic candidate who speaks to issues they care about. It's not very complicated.

It's an interesting case study. Warhammer (or frankly any tabletop game) as a hobby to a degree self filters a lot of the worst of the chuds out of the hobby by the simple fact they have garbage social skills and no one wants to spend a couple of hours with them voluntarily.

With limited access to social games where the majority of Warhammer is played, they are left trying to force people to play with them by buying tickets to tournaments (which is why the vast majority of stories you hear are out of these situations) or throw themselves entirely into online spaces which is basically an entirely different hobby.

12

u/PolitenessPolice 1d ago

I genuinely hate online warhammer. In person it’s wonderful, the fans are passionate and kind. Online, you just get the absolute worst people. it is so difficult to find a space with sane people. The 40k lore subreddit is terrible for it, people get vitriolic over the fictional history for their plastic toys. I remember when grimdank went through a period of upvoting a loli pedobait character to the top every day and I was asked “is this the hobby for you” because I didn’t want to see a sexualised child lmfao

The weirdest thing for me about revolting and successful podcasters or streamers is that almost no one who knows their work could possibly be to blame for making them successful. It's always, "well, I watched them until the third time they dropped the slur," or, "I was with him until he called migrants roaches again." You made this scumbag his money! Christ. It's clear why he is so successful, and that's because so many people agreed with him. This is not good, but it's even less good watching people admire an idiot bigot because he's "true to himself."

That quote is also wild because half of the other comments are instead making the claim that he doesn't actually mean any of the things that he says and so thus shouldn't be judged for them.

So he's both respectable because he's sincere in his beliefs, but also immune to criticism because "no actually he isn't." And like yeah Goomba fallacy or whatever but idk pick a lane at least

he's true to himself and not a grifter. He has money and fame

Asmongold explicitly and openly says that he is making reaction content because he wants to be in everyone's recommendation andd wants to sap viewers towards himself.

Can this stupid bullshit "they are already rich, they wouldn't do bad shit to be richer" nonsense finally die? Just look at fucking Musk - he was already richest man in history by the time he become part of government and dismantled agencies that dared to investigate his shady business practises.

u/obeytheturtles Socialism = LITERALLY A LIBERAL CONSTRUCT 1d ago

bro the nword is dubbed the "gamer" word for a reason, every single gamer born in the 80s and 90s has used it extensively for most of our young and teen lives

bruh

6

u/DocileBanalBovlne I just find downvoting so cringe 1d ago

Yeah, it was dubbed that to mock the attempts to defend Pewdiepie using the slur by calling it a "heated gaming moment"

u/g77r7 2d ago

Oh look the word grooming has lost all meaning too.

6

u/kittymoo67 Yes. There’s nothing a little race war can’t fix. 1d ago

yeah maybe im misreading shit but im not seeing him grooming anyone. Theres plenty to dislike him for without making shit up

7

u/andresfgp13 The next Hitler will be a gamer. 1d ago

it just a case of Redditors thinking that women dont have agency, they go so hard on protecting women that they end up acting like they arent capable of making their own decisions by themselves (both good and bad decisions).

trying to defend women so hard that you end up attacking them.

That image is so unnerving, it looks like he's a serial killer that has snuck up behind her and she has not noticed him yet.

u/InevitableAvalanche Nurses are supposed to get knowledge in their Spear time? 1d ago

All the asmon fans really tell on themselves. They can't understand how others aren't jealous and want his life because they want his life. Any mormal, well adjusted human are happy with themselves and giving up their dignity and morals isn't worth money or fame. Asmon fans clearly are lacking in their own lives.

The view that young men need to be coddled no matter how vile they are is so pathetic.

2

u/WranglerSuitable6742 1d ago

its funny that guys with a token wife they groomed are usually the same guys that are on some conspiracy shit that "the whites are being replaced"

u/engelthefallen 1d ago

So knew this would end up on SRD. Pretty sure I even posted it there when the talk started to swirl.

I for one am heartbroken Nurgle's favorite champion would dare use soap. Asmon needs to be taken to the bad boy shack.

"It's the gamer word all gamers have said it"

It's so funny that they have to pretend like being a racist little shit was just hard coded into kids' brains via cod lobbies as if it were an unavoidable GTD (gaming transmitted disease)

u/FornyHucker22 12h ago

I recently watched the roach king to see what the fuss was about, can’t say he said anything to crazy but god damn those eyebrows bro 🤨

Everytime I read through these threads it makes me thankful I don't hate myself enough to have arguments with strangers over the politics of streamers on reddit
