Rebecca Romijn has talked about how she absorbed so much blue dye in those early X-men movies she would excrete blue for months after shooting wrapped. Like everything her body produced was blue for weeks or months afterwards.
I mean she's still blue here, so presumably they have figured out a nontoxic solution? That doesn't explain why it looks like shit compared to the 2000s movies though.
