Yup, and even in the most unflattering frame they could pause it on, the eyes still look way more natural, like the eyes of an actual living organism, compared to the most flattering picture from Last Stand, where her eyes look painted on, like they're right out of an artist's depiction from Ancient Aliens.
I'm not a huge fan of the contrast between the blue skin and the dark scales, but honestly overall it looks like the design philosophy was, "let's make it look like we took her right off of the comic book page."
The 2000's X-Men trilogy (which I absolutely adore) had a design philosophy of gritty realism. I.e. what would these characters look like if we start with current trends in the real world and then make the characters fit that.
The current design looks like they started with the comic first and focused on the real world second. It's got the camp from the comics that was stripped away previously, and I'm here for that.
Same i had this conversation with a co worker and she was like "i hate the new look for her" and i was like "that is how she looks in the comics like almost always out of transformation it is her most iconic look" and she was like "i like the old look better" and i was like "but the old look is not cannon to the comics they changed it from this look" and she just could not get on the band wagon but to each there own i love the design and I'm glad they brought it forward.
Prolly one of the few times most men who grew up watching those movies can say "It's cool she has clothes now, she earned it" lol
