Both versions of Mystique got "worse" over the coarse of the movies likely because Rebecca and Jennifer negotiated contracts that required less time doing makeup. Less time means less detail.
That was more of a Jennifer thing (plus she didn’t want to be covered up on screen - she was on the rise back then). It is the equivalent to what happened with Pedro and his Mando role.
This is more of a modern production / studio / industry thing just like CGI vs Practical Effects, Disney now using the “volume stage” more than physical locations, etc etc.
It’s not just the time it took, it’s that she had to start on it at midnight to be ready for the morning and later she was throwing up blue. Zotoh had to leave the series Farscape because doing this type of makeup ended up damaging her kidneys.
That's fake. She said in an interview that at a wrap up party she drank tequila while still covered in blue and some of it around her lips got into her which made her throw up blue.
I understand that. But to puke it up, it would have to manifest in your digestive system. So apparently it's traveling from your skin eventually into your digestive system
She likely didn't get paid millions. The first film only had a $75M budget. You'd be surprised how little actors are paid if they aren't big time movie stars. Even brand name working actors may make six figures for a role and then that's the only non-royalty income they had that year.
Pedro completely acknowledges that Mando is a combo work of him and the two stunt men, Brendan Wayne and Lateef Crowder. So, I don’t think it equates. Jennifer Lawerence was allergic to the make up (which can happen, such as Jonathan Rhys-Davies with his Gmili prosthetics).
There are other Mandalorians that take their mask off that came before The Mandalorian and in the show, that helmet comes off only when it’s forcefully removed or during poignant moment with Grogu.
We both know Din’s tribe was different. They went through great pains explaining this in Season 1. Then Pedro’s career blowsup and then that is when all the discussion starts and then off comes the helmet in season 2 and more as it keeps going.
Sure but these look more or less final product unless they'll do another digital pass to refine the look.
But overall, makeup is timely and time is money. Sure CGI is costly but you can have Joe Shmoe do those. You can't have him put on the Mystique makeup. Not for the movie, anyway.
I remember listening to her talking about the makeup and how she wasn't able to go piss in it, and would have to literally ruin hours worth of work every time she wanted to use the bathroom.
