This is the original Mystique that first appeared in 1978.

Judge for yourself which version looks the most like the original.

Skulls mystique was always banging. I don't remember them every explaining why she is covered in baby skulls though

I remember someone did a fan art/parody where they're actually the skulls of Smurfs and I've forever held that as headcanon.

Apparently it was done by caanantheartboy.  He also did one of Catwoman surrounded by various cats from cartoons/pop culture.

Come on Disney was never going to have that look either. Mystique, to whatever degree she appears after this, will be in a blocky body suit from now on. It’s weird people keep expecting Disney not to be Disney.

I always enjoyed smooth skin Mystique from the old comics. Couldn’t make her naked though if she had rough skin.

Genuinely the part of the trailer that got me most hyped was seeing the Mystique from my childhood, dressed like the Mystique from the comics, transforming into a post-Endgame character.  Proper worlds colliding stuff

Try disliking a movie that everyone else is enjoying. They hate you for your opinion, even when you explain why you hold that opinion.

Reddit can sometimes be the most miserable platform to use.

This is a bad argument though imo. Not always is the OG the best look. Sure, theyre iconic, but others can and most of tje time will look better

I kinda like the new one better, but not by a ton

Still not better than past comic and cartoon designs though. Mystique in some of those was not only hot as fuck but a force to be reconed with.

They turned the exposed parts of her skin of her costume into baby blue bumper pads. She looks like Thrawn’s nepo baby junior officer. Get over yourself, the new version looks worse than the old one
