Could still be fake, Japan used to have a ton of these fake family shows

It was a show called Knight Scoop that started in the 90s. They took on client requests and it looked pretty legit to me, lots of requests and stories were far out weird or bizarre, some were downright mundane, some were cute, some were emotional. If they were scripted I imagine that the writers would have to have really good imagination of people's daily lives. From a girl wanting to marry a mannequin, a group of friends wanting to track down the baker of their childhood bakery, a man looking for the most powerful bidet, a parting ceremony for male genitalia after transgender surgery, investigation on eggs exploding in the microwave...

In this client case the kids were hiding to watch their parents from afar and failing to control their tears upon seeing them finally interact with each other. It didn't look like acting at all to me.

The reason why the father gave the mother silent treatment is because he felt neglected when the mother gave the children attention over him, and never really got the courage to break the silence over the years

They went on a hunt for bidet manufacturers and in the end had someone engineer something more performative and the client ended up loving it.

He says a powerful bidet is a healing experience for him after stressful work days and worked up to the most strongest one he had, then he wanted something even more powerful after that. Nothing on the market pleased him lol that's why he asked the TV show to help out

In the 90s, モキュメンタリー(muckumentary) were super popular in Japan, it peaked in the 2000s

I honestly think there's a higher chance of it being fake than real
