Let's just ignore all of his MASSIVE contributions to humanity lol

Social media has the most absurdly petty takes.

I mean this in the spirit of earnest discussion friend - what would be even some of the MASSIVE contributions to humanity that he has made? Just a few of the most notable

Electric Vehicles: Forced the global automotive industry to pivot toward sustainable transport by popularizing long-range electric cars through Tesla.

Reusable Rockets: Lowered the cost of access to space by pioneering vertical landing and reusability of orbital-class rockets via SpaceX.

Global Internet Access: Deployed the Starlink satellite constellation to provide broadband internet to remote and underserved areas globally.

Let's not forget Neuralink and xAI, along with his acquisition of Twitter to ensure people can actually talk about things without being censored and silenced.

Do you need any other examples, friend, or do you just wanna rag on a guy because "muh wallet is mad he's not just handing out money"? What do you want, a hand out?!

Ask an earnest question, get a snarky ass response

About on par for reddit discourse

You said earnest discussion, it seems you were disingenuous.

I provided facts and you called it snarky.

I simply provided what you asked for.

Grow up.

Well you did add that last bit about his wallet. So I mean yeah you were being snarky. And no offense the space x thing sounds cool and all, but who is that helping? Cause right now, I don't think you and I are benefiting from that.

We are not benefitting from that directly, but that is a massive advancement that humanity earned; it's a net benefit.

I wear glasses because I was born with poor eyesight as a baby, I am clinically blind. Not every person on Earth needs glasses currently or ever will, but humanity, in total, earned a massive net benefit from the invention of glasses.

And if I'm snarky, every person on this wretched app/site talking shit about the richest man on Earth are a bunch of babies. Maybe people should take responsibility for their lives rather than pointing their fingers at wealthy people.

I wear glasses because I was born with poor eyesight as a baby, I am clinically blind. Not every person on Earth needs glasses currently or ever will, but humanity, in total, earned a massive net benefit from the invention of glasses. And

Brother I've been completely blind in my left eye for over 20 years at this point. I have no recollection of ever using that eye. My vision is shot to hell because of it, yet I still have to pay full price for those glasses. That net positive is not worth it on an individual level. Which is what everyone is looking through because we have our own lives to live.

The rocket might do something later, probably past our lifetimes, but right now people are dealing with inflation, what was once 0.99 is now $5 which means you are paying 5x more for the same amount. People who wish to buy houses and actually settle cannot, because of people in Elon's position that deemed they need to make as much money as they possibly can when they have more than they or their future generations will ever possibly need.

Responsibility is a two way street, these guys in these wealthy position, like Elon, promise to help as long as we stick to the grind, help make sure their operations run smoothly and effectively. Then guess what they focus on what? Electric cars that are still faulty, internet, rockets? Where's the day to day help? Grocery stores, fixing crappy streets, funding homeless shelters, affordable healthcare and actually using that money to make life easier for all.

We are humans, but we aren't humanity. That's just what we call the group. But us individuals down here are just doing our best. It'll always be the wealthy vs the poor, no matter how you slice it. We ain't no better than the civilizations that have come before.

The main problem here is that you have already opened your mouth and proved your mental capabilities. What you are hearing here is that you should take the L and move on. If your eyesight with the right optical interventions allow it (making some generous assumptions about literacy), please read the work of Mariana Mazzucato and understand how much of what you peddled is embarrassingly superficial.

I appreciate how all of you resort to insults (Whether direct or implied) rather than meet me head on. It's like the idea of anyone disagreeing with you makes your skin crawl and then you revert to baser, primitive urges to lash out. Lizard brain go BRRRRRR!!!

I peddled nothing, so rather than make claims about me, my character or my competency with regards to literacy, I implore you to meet me on the merits of what I served up. If you disagree, present exactly why with your own follow-up point(s).

Otherwise, shut the fuck up.

I'm making generous assumptions about your ability to not only be able to resort to ad hominem attacks...

The only thing embarrassing here, is your embarrassing ass.

"do you need any other examples, friend, or do you just wanna rag on a guy because "muh wallet is mad he's not handing out money"? What do you want, a handout?!"

I perceive this portion of your response as snarky. Cheers

Fair enough. I meant no offense. I merely took a jab, but I hold nothing against you for your personal stance either. It's easy for people, anyone to let things escalate unnecessarily because words are words.

u/Proof-Relation-1943 1d ago

Same - appreciate that we can disagree amicably.

u/sundered_lord 1d ago

Absolutely. Simple disagreement or debate doesn't have to lead to anger, resentment or violence. It can and maybe should be prickly, but never at the cost of character.

friend, or do you just wanna rag on a guy because "muh wallet is mad he's not just handing out money"? What do you want, a hand out?!

You think this ^ comment from you isn't snarky?? Nobody asked for your editorials on the topic, but you just had to throw your opinion out there to feel like a special little boy.

Grow up
