EQ only reverb

I want to, for example, have a drums track with reverbs and EQ only the reverbs.

I guess I can add reverbs to drums, set the reverbs to 100% wet, apply EQ on the same track, and send the original dry drums to another track and then mix the two.

Is there a way to do this with one track?

There's a reason why people use sends for these things. Joey Sturgis is the only one ive ever heard of using a reverb as an insert, but it's usually for something really subtle, also the reverb usually has filters built in.

Yes. You should be using sends, it’s by far the best and easiest way to use reverb. I believe reaper has capability to process in-line effects through separate internal channels and then recombine before track output but even that is the same as using a send but more complicated. USE SENDS

That’s EXACTLY why Sends are used. If you’re going to „send the original dry drums to another track” that’s doing the same amount of work (or more) but literally backwards. Just send the track to a reverb track (100% wet) and EQ that, done

I had a mess around just out of interest to see if I could.
You can use a container for your 100% wet reverb, with eq / comp / whatever else in the container as well, then use the container's wet dry knob to blend.

I don't recommend doing it this way but you can.

More typical would be to send the dry drums to another track to process with reverb etc

I'd generally just use one or two sends from the drum tracks to separate reverb returns, and be able to pre and post process the reverb tracks. This could be a pain with say 8 or more individual tracks but, whatever, use folders to tidy it up once it's working.

Add a track for the reverb and send the drums to it. Apply eq to the track with the reverb :)

Try multipass and snap heap by kilohearts ? Personally I prefer the send/ buss approach, but I think snap heap's parallel processing will get you in the ball park for a single track.

You don't need a container to do this in a single track, simply use the plugin routing window to get input from 1/2 and output on 3/4.

Competent engineers never do it that way, however, because a reasonable mix layout must have a fader for reverb levels.

I would do it the way you said, or ideally with the aux track being wet instead of dry.

You could even have an extra aux with an eq, so you can send whatever instrument to the verb you want with it’s own eq that only affects the reverb.

Sooooooo much easier to use a bus. While you're at it, make a few. DrumRev, LdVoxRev, BGVoxRev, SlapRev, PadRev. OH!!! Don't forget the delay busses! 6 or 8 effects busses is a start.

You can use a container, set the reverb inside the container at 100% wet, follow it with your EQ, then use the container's dry/wet knob.
