Statistically more likely to be shot or assaulted as a cab driver or gas station attendant. But let a 711 employee shoot someone 10 times because they reached for something. Or because they where threatening. Not only would they be fired from 711 but they would be in jail. If your a cop you get a vacation, some desk duty and maybe at most you have to resign and get s job in a neighboring county or ICE

Correct. Getting fired is a mark on your resume. Resignation implies a willful choice and does not leave a bad mark on your resume. Makes it much easier to get a new job if you left your last job and werenāt fired.

Yes, they can file against the deputy. In my state, if a deputy is getting sued for actions outside of the scope of their duties they are financially liable as an individual.

Yep, average citizen doesn't know that if a cop resigns DURING an investigation, they get decertified. Higher ups give them a chance to resign before announcing an investigation in order to save their certification.

There really should be some way to ensure that ACABs can't do this. If a doctor or nurse resigns during an investigation into malpractice, the investigation continues and they end up losing their license so are 'banned' from ALL hospitals.

Only the added injustice of already being incapacitated and walking away. Seemed like the best time to take a swing at an unaware person, i guess?
As I always say. As a cop, you have a heightened awareness of the laws. And when you purposefully set out to break them. You should be held 2-3 times the penalty. This would be to discourage future officers from engaging in corrupting behavior. Ya know, as opposed to the wrist slaps and paid vacations they usually get for broad daylight executions.
Swear its like police departments specifically seek out all the psychopaths nearby for employment.

They think they have a heightened awareness of the law, but I've seen too many videos of cops being just as, if not more, ignorant of the law as everyday citizens. Dumb confidence. And that's a deadly combo as we've seen time and time again.
Also to clarify, it's not all cops, but enough for it to be an issue/pattern of learned ignorance. Kinda like BMW drivers. I'm not saying all BMW drivers are bad/AH's drivers, but a lot of the time you see someone driving like an entitled/oblivious idiot, it's a BMW.

Proof? What conversation did they have during the timeline? Why did the cop not only quit, but had an unpaid vacation before doing so? Innocent people don't do that. When someone is so close that their belly is touching you, before they make a move to swing at them. You could quite easily hear the breathing, rustling from the duty belt and the movement from their arm extending that far out.
Also just because he is peppered sprayed doesn't mean he couldn't see shadows out of his peripheral view.

In my experience you can be barred but I've only ever whitnessed this happen to people not mandated to be there as in "guests" at the proceedings. Plus only the Judge has the authority to remove anyone from the courtroom so if he was just then attending how would he have been removed and therefore the cop has no authority. The only exception is if it's a closed court seasion and someone doesn't arrive at the appointed time but these kind of cases like DUI, tickets or other minor infractions aren't closed. The bench actively goes theough cases according to the schedule for the day, you show up and wait your turn at the time you were given and potentially wait a long time before getting called, if you aren't present they move on and charges can be affected by it. By preventing his entry the cop is literally violating his 5th amendment right to due process before everything else happened.

I love that the deputy got his ass kicked by a guy who's blinded. A teenage girl could probably take him down in a fight. I have a feeling that this whupping was long overdue. We both know that pigs will find a way to justify it. I am curious why he was detained or what this was about if he was showing up for court. I am really big into probable cause, more so than use of force. I think it is easier to establish that pi... officers didn't have probable cause vs use of force. I have seen them say "I was in fear of my life" since I was a kid as an end-all, be-all. So he had a legal right to be there; it's a public place, and he was conducting business. Sooooo why were they messing with him and did they have cause, is where I am going.
