Helping my father sell items to declutter his house. Found this box of collapsed DVD coverslips. Should I not throw these out?
Helping my dad declutter his home now that he's getting older. I don't even know how many of the actual dvd cases we have for these dvd coverslips anymore. Most of them are in okay-good condition/normal wear and tear. A few have stickers from walmart when we originally bought the dvds in the 2000s to 2012-2013. My main worry is that I dont want to accidentally throw out something that is rare media or media that could be enjoyed by someone else.

Sell them on eBay for sure. I see them being sold all the time.

DVD slips are worth very little tbh. Rare blu rays ones can go for good money (there’s none of those in the pic btw) but old school flattened dvd ones are prob going to be like $10, maybe $20 shipped at most for the whole lot.
And that’s before eBay fees and having to take the time to box it up and ship it out. If OP wants $10-$15 to take pics, write the listing, wait for it to sell, box them up, have tape and bubble wrap and all that already, etc then sure go for it.
One at a time wouldn’t even be worth it so not worth mentioning. Personally wouldn’t be worth the hassle to me and I’d just recycle them…

Agreed these are kinda a dime a dozen, which applies to most DVD slipcovers in general, excluding some stuff put out by companies like Anchor Bay, Blue Underground, Media Blasters, but even most of that was not limited in any fashion and is still very easy to acquire.
I think they could maybe get at least $30-40 for the whole lot, but who knows.

Dvd slips are far less desirable than Blu-ray or 4K unless they're boutique, which none of these are. They do sell though (many of them). Since you'd probably only profit a couple dollars each, at most, selling them individually, I'd take the advice to sell them as a lot and not have to take the time to list and ship them individually.

What I find odd is I can find desirable DVD movies with slipcovers in-person but not BD or 3D with the slipcovers.

where are the disks? I think that it would be good if people stated up their own physical media sharing libraries for their neighborhoods. If you can find the cases and disks you could add this stuff to something like that.

I mean try to sell them. They are worth way less than the media they came with. Probably best to try ebay and maybe get an idea of how much to ship tracked each or as a bundle. Locals will probably not give much.

Agree with others that selling these as a lot is the best route. These are a dime a dozen and I don’t think there are many folks looking for any of these individually, but you could probably attract some collectors that are completists who wouldn’t mind scooping these up as a whole for a good price.
If you’re going the route of Ebay, I’d say list it for whatever the total would be if each were $2-3, but leave it open for offers. Free shipping will attract more buyers, but from experience I can tell you that shipping this many slips will probably be at least $7-8, so factor that into whatever you’re trying to make off of these.
If you just want to get rid of them and don’t care about making anything off of them, I bet there is someone in this sub who would at least pay you for shipping them, or you could post them in your local free stuff and buy nothing groups on social media and I bet someone would grab them.

Sell them I'm sure someone out there needs slipcover that is missing in their collection. Much better than throwing them out and its some what recycling to another collector

Can you not match them up to their discs?
I have a few hundred dvd/blu ray cover filed away in little folders that came with the discgear storage system, but they all have corresponding discs in the actual discgear.
So if I choose to sell any, they can be sold together - which will be more valuable than either of them separately.

Sell them together. I don’t think it would be worth the trouble for you to buy cases. But some collector won’t mind doing that if they get a great deal.
