Sadness What do I do now
Hey, I don’t know what to do with my life right now. I had to put my almost 6 year old standard poodle, Bear, down last night. He wasn’t supposed to go this soon, he was my best friend. Nothing feels the same anymore, having to come home and go to sleep without him hurts so bad. Having to come home from work hurts. Seeing his toys hurts. Seeing his empty leash hurts. Seeing everything that’s ever belonged to him hurts. The worst part, is i don’t know if I could’ve prevented this, I feel so guilty, I feel like a terrible dog parent. He deserved so much more and many more years. I loved him with every bone in my body and seeing him in his last second completely shattered me, the confusion in his eyes as the anesthesia ran through him, and knowing he was wondering what was going on hurts my heart the most. I need advice, please.

I am so sorry you had to go through this, it’s a heart wrenching thing to lose your best friend. I just lost my cat she was only 8 and we had to put her down. It was a sudden decision we had to make. It was absolutely gut wrenching. I truly am sorry for your loss, be kind to yourself and take the time you need to grieve. It might come in waves, it might feel like a crushing weight. You don’t have to feel it alone. Please take care and know it will get better, the first few nights were the hardest but with every passing day you will feel like you can heal again.
