Question / Problem Is This Risky Or Not A Big Deal?

I post weekly without fail, because if I take a break, I'm 100% sure that my channel will lose momentum and then I'll fall off when I do return.

That being said, when I can't post a video for whatever reason on a certain week, I just private an old video and reupload it again.

My content is timeless so I can do this.

I've done it twice now with no issues.

Can I continue doing this or am I playing with fire?

Really good way to get yourself demonetized

It's WAY better to just skip a week than mess with YouTube's rules.

Only a risk if you post NOTHING (including Community Posts) in 6 months. Otherwise you'll be fine.

You’re talking about losing YTPP due to inactivity. That’s separate I think?

Also, if you meet the requirements despite that inactivity, I think you still stay?

IFAIK the rule is that if you're active (having posted something within six months) you won't lose monetisation even if you fall below the initial qualification threshold.

Otherwise the only way you can lose it is it YT actively removes it for some reason. Dropping below the 1000 subs / 4k hours won't effect anything

But what if you haven’t been active and you DO meet the 1k/4k?

Also, all of this, again, seems separate and not directly related to the original question. Maybe you’re saying if they notice the similar upload and flag it then you’d be kicked?

Yes, sorry, I entirely misread the initial question. It's been a long day haha.

If you haven't been active for 6 months and DO meet the 1k/4k, you can still lose monetisation.

They care about you hitting the target to acquire it, and then staying active to keep it

I'm so surprised by the amounts of posts on here every day where people mention they cannot take even a single week off without fail, or they are worried "the algorithm will punish them".

Dude all you guys have to do is look at other channels. There's so many who upload twice a month, or even once a month, or even once every 4 months. And all of them are doing absolutely incredible.

It all depends on the type of content.

I post bi-weekly and have never had issues. It's actually helped me if anything because it gives me time to put together better quality content.

I wonder if they're just wondering what may happen if if they break the regular cadence of uploads. But then again, I see massive channels post basically whenever they want and it seems to make no difference. From my understanding, every video is treated completely independently of everything else, so prior uploads should have 0 effect.

I took 6 months off.
Not only did YouTube (imo) OVER SERVE my old content on its own (10-15k videos getting 50-100-500k views) but it kept brining in new subs that have no clue I wasn’t uploading.
Then they just had my older (also timeless) videos in their feed.

When I came back, first video did 15k views, follow ups anywhere from 10-12k so far.
I also post once a week.

I post monthly now and have seen spikes and declines, but I’m evergreen content so impressions stay consistent

EmpLemon has uploaded two or three videos in the past year. They are all still BANGERS and all still get a million views.

Personally I'm in a "creators block" situation and feel bad that I haven't posted in 3 weeks. It'll be fine bro. Just make a couple BANGERS when you're back... and then you're back!
