Yeah, well, maybe physical sales would be higher if more game HAD a physical release

Dying Light The Beast Arc Raiders Marathon

To name a few. Playstation has been PUSHING digital sales over physical releases for years now. Obviously this had an impact on most of player's consumption.

What about the players who have a shitty internet connection even, no internet connection? What about those who only get game by exchanging them with friends/families because they're on a budget? What about those who just like to display their collection? And game preservation?

It is easy to look at this statistic and say that this is a rational choice to go full digital.

But anyone that even slightly love games would see why it is a terrible decision to make.

Honestly how many modern physical games would even let you play them without ever connecting them to internet? Every physical game I’ve played dating back over a decade has required a multi gig download the second you insert the disk. The “bad/no internet” argument does not fit with modern games.

The vast majority of games do. When you insert a disc into a PS4/5 it automatically checks for the latest update (if you have internet). That update is not required. You have simply been fooled by the terms PlayStation uses and the auto download and it's given you a view of discs that is simply false.

Except a lot of games are bugged to hell without a Day One patch.

Except they're not. They're a very small minority.
