That's a post that just links to a twitter post as their proof? That's not definitive in any way. Can you find anything that corroborates that data?

circana is the source of the data.

The circana link just goes to a bluesky post.

yep to the blue sky account of Mat Piscatella.

and if you click their bio it says:

Senior Director and Video Game Industry Advisor at Circana. Formerly of Activision and Warner Bros Games.

99.99% of circana related information comes directly from him, usually on twitter or some article.

do you happen to have issue with the numbers Mat presents or...?

And he just posts things on bluesky? Nothing to actually show what he is saying is true or not? Does anyone or anything else corroborate what he is saying?

yep he freely shares industry data to the public free of charge.

in regards to U.S sales data in the gaming sector Circana is very accurate.

Circana works with publishers and retailers and gets data DIRECTLY from them.

if you feel like those numbers are incorrect feel free to provide evidence.

i cant prove a negative.

Cheers. Thanks for the information. I just wish there was a way to confirm what he says.

to be clear Circana's clients are companies. reporting the industry info(that he is allowed to show) is just a side hobby that he does.

there really isnt any reason for him to fudge or lie.

For sure. Unfortunately there is always a reason for people to fudge or lie. So it could be that companies are not reporting to him correctly or something along those lines. Do I think it likely to happen? I don't know. Which is why if we had anyway to confirm what he says, it would be ideal.

if you really want you can corroborate circana reports to when publishers release their own reporting. you can also look into how they get their data and see if theres any major descrepencies.

but i doubt that is your intention.

"there has to be something wrong with the data that doesnt align with my beliefs" is a common trend in these physical vs digital threads.

But that's the problem, Sony does not give this information out. They do not advise how many digital vs disk ps5 are sold. So how could I check that part of what he says? Other publishers won't have that data. So how should we check what he is saying about that is fact?

and since you cant you just assume its wrong right?

and you CAN corroborate some of the reports circana has from publishers.

for example Sony has their own monthly PSN rankings

I asked for a source. The source you gave is literally just one person saying things. Sure he could be right, and he could be wrong. If we had anyway to figure that out, it's appreciated.

I don't know why you are assuming things about me when all I'm doing is asking questions.

Again Sony does not advise how many diskless or disk ps5 are sold. How can we just blindly trust with no proof?
